With heavy but full hearts we announce the departure of our beloved board director John McGlinchey. A longtime festival attendee and volunteer, John served on the board for five years, as president for the past four. As John says "a good leader knows when to step up and a really good leader knows when to step back" And though John will remain a champion for the society, his leadership, support and dedication will be dearly missed by all staff and directors alike. The Board o...f Directors met to discuss the transition and appointed director Constance Magnuson as interim president until the next election after the new year. Constance, who joined the board in 2019, jumped right in to support the society's mission and was a key player in the pivoting of this year's folk festival. She is appreciative of the board's faith in her abilities and aims to carry on the torch to finish the year on a high note. John has played a critical role in the evolution of the Philadelphia Folksong Society and the Philadelphia Folk Festival and is leaving us with a solid foundation as we navigate the new world of Covid-19. The PFS staff and board want to thank John for his years of dedicated service, passionate enthusiasm and inspiring leadership to the society.
