Philadelphia Water Department is joining The Value of Water 2020 United for Infrastructure campaign this week to highlight its continual investment in green infrastructure and the partners who help make that possible. On Wednesday, we officially welcomed Friends Rehabilitation Program and Cloud 9 Rooftop Farm into the Soak It Up Adoption family! They’ll maintain GSI sites in West Philly, including rain gardens and a swale at 50th St. & Haverford Ave. Thank you for helping us #RebuildBetter!

We appreciate our Soak It Up Adoption members helping to keep our green stormwater infrastructure clean! Tookany/Tacony-Frankford (TTF) Watershed Partnership, with help from PowerCorps PHL and Friends of Vernon Park, recently removed 20 bags of trash + 21 bags of organic debris at one of our very first rain gardens in Germantown’s Vernon Park. Thank you!

Everything we do is about this: protecting and improving Philadelphia precious, beautiful waterways. See how fellow watershed advocates captured that beauty for the Fairmount Water Works Photo Contest, and check back Friday for the 1st-place submissions.

When litter gets into Cobbs Creek, it threatens fish, birds, and other wildlife - including species like Bald Eagles living in the John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge At Tinicum. You can help protect wildlife by pitching in at this week's volunteer cleanup

Do you live in a part of Philly served by the older combined sewer system? See the "Check Map" link in our blog on the Basement Protection Program, created to help people living in the combined sewer area get free backflow prevention devices installed. Backflows occur when heavy rain overwhelms sewers and water backs up into basement plumbing. http://water.phila.gov/blog/basement-protection-program
