Portland Hook & Ladder Co. No. 1 Bingo

Portland Hook & Ladder Co. #1 will be cancelling bingo and closing our hall for the following two weeks, March 17, 2020 and March 24, 2020. The Bingo Committee will be monitoring the COVID-19 Virus status and make sure there is ample notification to our players as to when bingo will start back up. This was not an easy decision to make as the Bingo Committee is extremely excited to have everyone see the new bingo machine and TV monitors. However the Bingo Committee felt it di...d not want to put the burden on our players to make the decision on whether or not you come to bingo. We know some of you do not feel concerned about the virus but for others there are health related concerns. A decision for the Fourth Friday Bingo, March 27, 2020 will be made separately so please keep your eye out for updates. We will keep our Facebook pages updated, post on Instagram and we will send out Constant Contact messaging. Please spread the word to other bingo players if you know someone who does not receive messaging from the department. Again this decision was made with our players, kitchen staff and our department members health our foremost concern. Please take care of yourselves during this trying time. Due to the weather forecast for this coming Sunday, September 13th and the show being held outdoors, we have decided that it is in the best interest for both ou...r vendors and show attendees to POSTPONE the show until Sunday, September 20, 2020. The show will be the same times, 9am to 3pm. We will also extend the Raffle until the new date as well, same time drawing of 2pm. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD AND SHARE OUR POST! Okay everyone we are giving a shot (no pun intended) at holding our show OUTDOORS.We have also added another date in October. Since bingo remains shut down and ...no estimated time for which it can resume, we decided to regroup and come up with a new plan for the show. We cannot hold it inside, so why not try outside. What we need for ALL of you to do is share our info. We have advertising starting this week in some local free papers, but there is really nothing like the word of mouth. That is where ALL of you come in. Help support your local volunteer fire department and share our post. See more

Hello all. We hope you are staying safe and healthy during this difficult time. Due to the ongoing uncertainty regarding COVID-19, at this time and for the foreseeable future, PH&L has no plans to open and operate our bingo game. Soon, we will be circulating a survey via our Facebook page and Constant Contact to gain feedback from our players as to how we will move forward once we are able to open. Thank you for your continued patience and support. We hope to see you on a Tuesday night soon!

We have been receiving a lot if questions from our devoted bingo players as to when we think we will re-open bingo. We honestly at this time really do not know. We are located in Northampton County, PA so our County remains in PA's COVID-19 yellow phase at this time. We do not even have guidance yet as to what our re-opening will look like. We have come up with a few different ideas so that hopefully as soon as allowed we will be ready to go. We know that there will be restri...ctions, we know that there will be reduced capacity but we just do not know what that is yet. We hope that this answers some questions. We will definitely post on both our department Facebook pages, we will send out Constant Contact notifications. We ask all of you that when the time comes share and spread the word. We depend on Tuesday night bingo for a large portion of our funding so being closed this long without bingo and our other fundraisers we will certainly need all the support we can get to get our bingo back up and running. Our events are still on! If you choose to come stop at either of our shows this weekend we ask you to please use care. Wash your hands, reduce hand to hand contact and be respectful of others. A note from us regarding our events this weekend. We are aware that many events are postponing and even cancelling due to the COVID-19 virus. We have decided to still host our events as scheduled and advertised. We have a Craft & Vendor Show Saturday March 14 and a Gun Show Sunday March 15 both open to the public from 9am to 3pm. If you plan to attend one of these shows we ask that you self assess. If you are felling ill and unsure why, err on the side of caution and stay ho...me. If you are still planning to attend please keep handshaking, hugging, etc... to a minimum and be respectful and considerate to those around you. Our bathrooms are stocked with soap and paper towels as there is truly no substitution for a good 'ole fashion hand washing. Our hall has been cleaned and we will make sure to clean and wipe surfaces between the shows. The weather will be in the mid-50's over the weekend and we know that many of your look forward to coming to the shows and getting out for some fresh air.
