October is Pit Bull Awareness Month! Did you know that a pit bull is not just one breed? It’s actually a mix of breeds! A pit bull is actually a shape of ...dog that describes dogs with square heads and small eyes. The breeds that are commonly considered to be pit bulls are: American Staffordshire Terriers, American Pit Bull Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, and sometimes even Bull Terriers, or any mix of these! Bully breeds get a bad rap and are one of the most common to be found in animal shelters. This is also because they are incredibly popular! These breeds are highly intelligent and naturally sweet-natured. Whether it’s a tail that won’t stop wagging or that classic pittie smile, we think these dogs are some of the most special out there! We, as an organization, have come to know thousands of pit bulls in our years of operation and they are definitely some of our favorites!
