Pittsburgh Universities' Parents 12.07.2021

Every so often, I put this out there. This Facebook page is not associated with any Pittsburgh University but is a place for students and parents to ask questions and talk. There are a lot of subjects that are better served free from any of the 20+ universities in the area. Cost savings, housing, dining, hotels, crime, etc. This is a place that now 500+ can ask whatever they want. I pre-approve the membership, based upon answering a few simple questions. I pre-approve the posts. I do this ONLY to keep advertisers and scams out of the mix. It is not to censor the true parent and student discourse.

This is really important to parents and students. Many times, the last thing that everyone factors in is the availability, the motivation and the habits of eating right. This is a great help for college students, particularly those on a budget.

Fall looks like a big emphasis on remote learning.

One of the reasons that I started this page, was an extension of Advok8 Coaching, which is my business. We will offer a web services coaching solution that allows the student (and the parent if authorized) to coach the student through each day of the semester. We meet with them weekly. This fall, our plan is to take a limited number of paying students through our system. Stay tuned for the launch.

I have published my first fiction book, and several of my LinkedIn contacts wanted to find it on Amazon. https://lnkd.in/ecVnB3D Would love you to buy it and don't forget to review it (particularly if you enjoy it). It centers on the notion of a multi-verse and a man that travels from heaven to earth and back. Classic good versus evil with thought-provoking parallels to today's religious, political, and corporate situations. The things to consider before returning to college: 1. Quarantine for two weeks prior to returning. If there is a problem, get tested. Don't bring illness with you. 2. Masks and hand washing will be vital to remaining healthy for the semester. This is your investment, don't screw it up with a pool party in the Ozarks. 3. Masks ... don't bring back a paper mask meant for less than a day of use. Invest in a proper, washable set of masks that are effective. 4. Masks ...... understand the right way to wear them. Not around your neck, not a hat, not below your nose, etc. 5. College kids love eating out and going out for nightlife. Fall should be the laid back semester. Pick up food, deliver food, cook, eat safely. Substitute small gatherings, preferably outside, over bars. Campfires will be the way to go for the Fall. 6. Pay attention to the classroom. Wipe down your desk surface with proper wipes. Pain in the ass, but how many people have touched that desk. 7. Sleep, take vitamins, and stay hydrated. Keep yourself as strong as possible. 8. Forego the gym. Walks, runs, cycling, home workouts should be key. Nothing is probably worse than the huffing and puffing inside a gym. 9. Know school policies for getting sick. They have changed since the last time you were in school. Test positive and you get booted ... for instance. See more
