What are memories? Memories are the afterimages of that delicate red flower in the summer sun after you close; memories are the faded childhood photo taken in front of Disney Castle in the album; memories are the bustling crowds on the street and the smiles on their face; memories are the shadow cast on the ground from the mask you just took off when you came home. A MEMORY OF YESTERDAY: VIRTUAL GROUP EXHIBITION OF ASIAN ARTISTS brings together the work of students who have s...tudied with the artist Chenlin Cai over the past 15 years. The students range from 10 to 70 years old; their identities range from elementary school students to art college students and office workers. The works have been collected from China, Australia, Italy, and Canada. Each artist is using their unique perspective to interpret and express memories. View the online exhibition and register now for a very special Friday Evening Salon with the artists on 10/30 at 7PM! Curated by Chenlin Cai. "Main Street Midday", oil on panel, by Liam Murphy-Torres. Liam shares: "I’m interested in investigating the ordinary, the every day urban and suburban spaces that I inhabit. Through close observation, I believe that these spaces can become far more beautiful than one might assume. I don’t seek out the spaces that are conventionally considered beautiful, but instead seek out beauty in my own environment." "Ste James (Sheltering En Plein Air)", Pencil, Pen and Ink, Gansai Tambi on canvas paper, by Anita Mullen-Brodsky. Anita's inspiration: "The everyday life. I love walking in Philadelphia. This is a home in a quaint English style village that I always go back to, and stop and kindly stare. So, I decided to paint part of the exterior. It is in color, but this is a black and white printed version to expose the basics. When we are stripped of everything that represents us or how we present ourselves; in title, in name, in what we do, or don't do, our ethnicity just for a moment---what is left is the basics--simplicity of beauty is all---if we but see."
