Pocono Toastmasters 03.07.2021

We are offering another Lab Day this week to write speeches and rehearse. Woo hoo! Thursday, January 30, 2020 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm Hughes Library... 1002 N 9th Street Stroudsburg, PA 18360 (570) 421-0800 IMPORTANT: PLEASE LET US KNOW IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND!!! If you think you might be able to attend, shoot me an email so that I know to wait for you. Or hit me up on Facebook. Location: "The Board Room" This is the small conference room on the first floor, down the hallway towards our regular meeting location where we generally meet. What are Lab Days? Lab Days are small group sessions where we provide you with coaching and mentoring in any area that you wish to work on. Sometimes the help comes from the group facilitator, and other times the great ideas come flowing from the other participants in the group! Lab Days help you to accelerate your growth and jump ahead by leaps and bounds. What types of things can we work on at Lab Days? * Preparing stronger speech openings and good attention getters * Crafting high impact closings that motivate people * Developing skills with impromptu speaking * Becoming more animated in public speaking * Adding persuasion power to your speeches so that people will take action after hearing me speak * Working with PowerPoint * Navigating the Pathways online educational system * Work on a speech for Public Speaking Contests We can work on anything you wish. We can help you write your next speech. You can rehearse your speech in front of the group and get feedback from all of us to help you tweak it and improve it. Your Lab Day speech can count as your next speech in your manual.

With even more new members coming on board, we are offering a Lab Day this weekend! Woo hoo! Saturday, January 25, 2020 2:00 pm... It will be much faster on a laptop computer. If you are working on speeches, you can do tons of editing of your speech right there on your laptop. (Not quite as effective with just pen and paper.) What if I don't have a laptop? Our wonderful friends at the Hughes Library have 16 laptops available to lend out to people. You can use it for four hours and have to use it in the library. How about that! (You will need to present your library card. If you do not have a library card, you can get that at the main desk on the first floor. Need to present your license or other ID.) I'm stuck! Can you help me write a speech? Absolutely! That's our speciality! We'll help you write it, tweak it, and practice it. I'm so scared! Can you help me overcome that? We sure can! We'll turn that around so that you'll thrive on it and love it soon enough! Promise! "What if I cannot attend this Lab Day?" If you can't attend this weekend but are still interested in a Lab Day, let me know so we can set something up. Take advantage of these small group Lab Day sessions! They can be really powerful! Especially if you are brand new to the world of professional public speaking! Big hugs, everybody! Onward and upward! Rick

As dedicated and driven professional Toastmasters, we love to study historical speakers who made a significant impact in the world around them. We love to watch or listen to their speeches and identify the key components that caused the hearts of their listeners to change in one direction or another. We enjoy studying their mannerisms and gestures that aided their speaking ability. We rejoice in the positive change that they were able to make with the spoken word. Martin Lut...Continue reading
