According to the World Health Organization, mosquito-borne infections result in over 700,000 deaths annually. To help curb this huge burden on public health, scientists have been searching for better ways to manage mosquito populations to inhibit the spread of disease. A new approach to control mosquitos surfaced this year: disrupting proteins essential in egg formation to make the eggs collapse. A new blog on our website talks about the research and how our insect chambers can help with similar research.

How long ago did sleep evolve? Previous estimates had sleep-like states first originating in animals ~300 million years ago. However, new research with zebrafish adjusts that estimate all the way back to ~450 million years ago. We have a new blog on our website that discusses what they found and how our refrigerated incubators can be used for research like this.

We're at the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science this week with information about our rodent incubators. Our chambers offer a temperature and light-controlled environment for rodent studies such as circadian and high/low temperature studies. Ultrasound has been used as a medical diagnostic tool for over 50 years, but now scientists are starting to look at ultrasound stimulation as a potential treatment method for arthritis. 2 recent studies have looked at using ultrasound stimulation of the spleen to generate a response from the immune system. We have a new blog post on our website that talks about these techniques and how our rodent incubators can help with similar research.
