Pymatuning Yacht Club

Meant to share this last week during the #masters BUT here we are! A special #flashbackfriday to PYC’s very own golf tournament- put on every year by the Thistle Fleet. We have soft practice balls, teams of all ages and skill levels, and travel around the Club to various picturesque and challenging holes. We even have longest drive and closest to the pin challenges! It’s a Club-wide favorite for golfers and spectators alike!

There’s something about fall at the lake... For those of you who don’t get the PYC calendar, this beautiful #tbt is the November page if you didn’t buy one at Labor Day, let us know so you can enjoy more beautiful pictures like this all year round! All proceeds go back to the Club and Junior program. Thanks to @patricia_bru_ for snapping this last October and sharing it with us.

Pausing today to say thank you for the courage and sacrifice of all our veterans. Especially grateful for our own PYC Members and their families who are currently serving or have served. We owe you so much!

Interrupting your anxious scrolling with this calm, foggy morning on the lake for the first #tbt of the offseason. Just pause...and breathe... How much would we all give to be here right now?!

The season may be winding down but racing was still on for the Lightning and Thistle fleets this weekend! Congrats to John and Bertie Werley for the Lightnings, and Steve and Nora White for the Thistles on Saturday. Dave Werley with Emma Werley and Matt Werley beat the Lightnings, and George Pearsall Jr. with Rachel Proctor and Gavin Svenson won the Thistle race on Sunday!

It turned out to be a beautiful weekend of sailing, although a little bit shifty. All three fleets managed to race both days. Congrats to winners George Pearsall Sr. with Steve and Amy Adkins, John Werley with Bertie Werley and John Woodall, and Adrian and Magali Michael on Saturday! Sunday's winners were Steve and Nora White, Dave Werley with Jo and Emma Werley, and Mark and Cheryl Devonshire!

A few weeks ago we featured our Gold Team junior sailors but we didn't forget about our younger Blue Team, so for this #throwbackthursday we are looking back at these enthusiastic kiddos at their final classes of the summer. Already looking forward to next season of sailing class!

Happy Labor Day from PYC! The weather didn't cooperate very well for much sailing this weekend (not enough wind yesterday and then too chilly and rainy today) but we still had a very successful annual meeting and Junior fundraiser in the JYC yard. The annual trophy presentation honored our junior sailors as well as presenting the Verna Yates crewmanship trophy to Laura Helwig and Noel Ridge and the Corinthian Award to our retiring commodore, George Pearsall Jr. Congratulations!

We've gotten a little behind on race winner photos so for this #throwbackthursday we are celebrating some winners from the past few weeks! Ryan Anstrom, Jim Beard, Becca Glass and Matt Frymier each one a laser race 2 weeks ago. Jim Beard with Kathy Beard and Becca Glass won the Thistle race last Saturday. Mike Werley, Kathy Butters, and Titi Tuta won for the Thistles last Sunday. Dave Werley beat the Lightnings with Jonette Werley and Greg Maras. Ron Brubaker was the top Flying Scot last week with Pat Brubaker and Katie Glass. Congrats to all!

Big shout out to Gavin Svenson and his crew Greg Maras, George Pearsall Sr. and Jim Tuta for their fantastic work on the new Memorial Fund Project! The new sign and beautiful landscaping really transform the clubhouse. @ Pymatuning Yacht Club

The boys group from the Gold Team have been tearing it up out on the water as well! Big thanks to our instructors and parents this year for being flexible with the new class structure. It has taken a lot of creativity and extra help to get these kids launched and back on shore safely and socially distant. @ Pymatuning Yacht Club

The junior sailing program has looked a little different this summer, but not even a pandemic can keep these kids off the water! Our older "Gold Team" split into girls and boys groups in order to keep the class size small and allow for social distancing. Our new O'pen Skiffs have made for easy rigging which gives us maximum time on the water with minimum touching. Look at these girls go! @ Pymatuning Yacht Club

Congratulations to this weekend's race winners! Jim Beard and Ryan Anstrom each won a laser race on Friday evening. George Pearsall Jr. bested the Thistle Fleet with crew Rachel Proctor and Gavin Svenson on Saturday afternoon. Scot Werley with Alex and Nate Rodriguez came out on top of the Lightning Fleet! The 5th annual PYC Pro-Am Invitational Golf Tournament presented by the LPGA was a success! Special thanks to Commissioners Charlie Butters and Brayden Pearsall for setting everything up. Fun was had by all! @ Pymatuning Yacht Club

It was an absolutely gorgeous day today ended by 3 lovely laser racers. Congrats to winners Matt Frymier, Ryan Anstrom, and Jim Beard!
