International Coastal Cleanup in the City of Lebanon on Sat Sept 21 yields 242 lbs. of plastic trash picked up by 16 volunteers, ages 8 to 61, within a radius of six blocks or so from the YMCA on N. 7th St. Many thanks to the Lebanon Valley Family YMCA and all our co-sponsors, and to LVC students Brandon Roy, Julia Crawford, Priva Singh Bhullar, Cameron Mitchel, Kendall Lu, Andrew Tung, Ryan Bibeau, Ben Tressler, Hanna Heagerty, Kirmi Espinal, and Alexandria Lasher; LVC adjunct professor of art & visual culture Karen Beall and her daughter Nina Pittari; high school student Halie Mullins; and concerned citizen D'onthany Pabon (not to mention the Garbage Museum's Executive Director.) Bountiful thanks to all for a job well done!

Sat Sept 21, 9:30 AM--12:30 PM. Fifth Annual International Coastal Cleanup in the City of Lebanon! Meet in NE corner of the parking lot of the Lebanon Valley Family YMCA. Volunteers will be divided into teams equipped with maps & garbage bags to fan out across Lebanon to pick up trash in the streets, alleys & parking lots, before the next rainstorm washes it all into Quittie Creek & thence to the Chesapeake Bay & Atlantic Ocean. Organized by the Quittapahilla Creek Garbage Museum & co-sponsored by a boatload of organizations as seen on the attached flier. Hope you can make it Saturday, Sept. 21!

It's raining plastic in the high Rockies, and probably everywhere else in the country. Has anyone ever checked the rain here in Lebanon County for microplastics? Next time it rains, we will.

Samples of the garbage art from the Washed Ashore Exhibition at the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, Arkansas -- all made from plastic trash plucked from beaches in Oregon. Kudos to the activists & artists in the Washed Ashore Project & the Clinton Center for hosting the exhibition.

Wind-powered patriotic garbage art made from an old trash can lid & a bunch of 4-hour energy drink bottles plucked out of Quittie Creek.
