RICHARD ( DICK) SIMON: Richard (Dick) Simon passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020. Richard was born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 27,1921. Richard was a devoted husband to his wife of 66 years, Nancy (Lichtenstul), until her passing in 2015. Dick is survived by his beloved children Sharon Dunlap (Donnie) and Kenneth Simon (Linda) and his cherished grandchildren Chad, Jessica, Wesley and Kevin who were his pride and joy. Richard devoted his life to giving back he served hi...s country in WW2, his community as a dedicated volunteer leader with several local organizations most notably Rodef Shalom Congregation and Jewish Healthcare Foundation - and was ‘ever loyal to his ZBT’. Dick will be remembered by his family, friends and Brothers for his kindness, wisdom and wit. Services and Interment PRIVATE. Contributions in Richard’s memory will be welcome by The Biblical Botanical Garden at Rodef Shalom Congregation or the Zeta Beta Tau Foundation. JAY WILLIAM (BIRD) EISNER. August 16 1960 - November 4, 2020, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Coral Springs, FL. Jay is survived by his loving wife Cindy (Laychak) Eisner. Loving son of Mathilda (Weisberg) and the late Morton Eisner, brothers, Howard Eisner (Kathleen), Robert Eisner (Pamela), loving sister Caryn Eisner Kelly (Brian), loving son, Scott Eisner (Tiffany) and Nicholas Guercio, daughters, Jennifer Eisner and Andriea Hernandez (Richard), loving grandchildre...n, Camryn, Ella, Zachary, Ace and Zane. Many nephews and nieces. Jay enjoyed spending time with family and friends, the gym and riding his Harley Davidson, traveling, golf, jet skiing and working around his house. He always took the time to help out his neighbors and enjoyed his time with his dogs. His love for the Steelers never went unnoticed with making yearly trips to Pittsburgh to catch a game. He lived his life to the fullest and will truly be missed. Graveside Service and Interment Private. DIANE DeDe (LINDER) FINK: Age 72, of Fox Chapel, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2020. She was the daughter of Ruth and Isadore Linder (zl). DeDe was loving, loyal, brave, tough, and an eternal optimist. She faced many challenges in her life but never complained, and always put others before herself. She set an example by which all could envy, persevering through one of life's most unfortunate circumstances to make a difference in the lives of everyone she encountere...d. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother and loved nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren, playing mahjong and bridge with her friends, shopping, exercising, sitting in the sun and decorating her home with beautiful flowers and trinkets. She loved pictures and surrounded her home with beautiful photos of the people she loved. DeDe was a graduate of Allderdice High School, Carnegie Mellon University, and Duquesne University. Prior to having children, she was an elementary school teacher. She taught Kindergarten at Adat Shalom for many years and spent much of her time volunteering for many local organizations, including her synagogue, Adat Shalom; Hadassah; Children’s Hospital; Paws with a Cause; and so many more. She was an avid athlete, and even after she was injured in a bicycle accident 37 years ago that left her paralyzed, she continued to compete in racquetball, wheelchair racing, swimming, and more. She won multiple wheelchair competitions, including the Great Race, and won gold medals in track & field and swimming at the US National Wheelchair Games). You could often find her using her wheelchair bike through the streets of her neighborhood, swimming miles at Club 1, and walking her dog at Squaw Valley Park. BLUMMER, SONDRA R. (STUTZ) On Friday, October 30, 2020. Beloved wife of Morry W. Blummer; loving mother of Marcy (Larry) Grollman and the late William "Bill" Aaron Blummer; grandmother of Joshua (Veronica) Grollman, Jordan Grollman and Mitchel, Wesley, Kyle and Laine Blummer; great grandmother of Jonah Grollman. Sondra enjoyed many years of teaching elementary school students, playing mah-jongg, socializing with friends, weekly visits to the hair and nail salon, and lunch tim...e trips with Morry to Costco. However, her favorite times was those spent with her six grandchildren and her great grandson. Service and Interment Private. Beloved wife of the late Sidney Santman; loving mother of Steven; loving aunt of Robert (Barbara) Gastfriend, Caron (David) Landay, Marjorie (Marc) Schermer, Stuart (Adele Friedman) Kisilinsky; great-aunt of Kara and Paige Landay, Benjamin and David Gastfriend, and Ayla Schermer; daughter of the late Celia and Simon Gastfriend; sister of Allan (Marlyn) Gastfriend. Sally graduated from Aliquippa High School and the ...University of Pittsburgh School of Education. She taught elementary students in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. She was a lifetime member of Na'Amat and Hadassah and an active member of the sisterhood of the former Congregation B'nai Israel, Pittsburgh, PA and Congregation Beth Jacob, New Kensington, PA. Graveside Services and Interment will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2020 at 3 pm at Beth Shalom Cemetery, 1501 Anderson Road, Shaler Township. Eileen Ruth Lewis, May 17, 1934 - October 24, 2020 of Brookline, MA, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA. Eileen was born and raised in Pittsburgh and lived in the neighborhoods of the Hill District, Greenfield, and Squirrel Hill, until 2017, when she moved to Brookline, MA to be closer to her sons. Eileen was born in 1934 to Samuel Cohen (Zadie) and Ethel (Rubenstein) Cohen (Bobo,) both of Pittsburgh. She remained an only child. After attending Fifth Avenue High School, Eileen wo...rked as a bookkeeper until she met her husband, Norman Lewis, at a dance at the YMWHA in Oakland. They were married in September 1953. Four years later, their son Mark was born. Allan was born eleven months later. Eileen was a devoted wife and mother. While her children were growing up, she was active in various organizations, and enjoyed playing mahjong with friends. Eileen did not learn to drive a car until around age 40. After her two boys went to college, she began working again. She had a long career at Jewish Family and Community Services, which was like a second family to her. She kept working there into her early 60s. Eileen also liked sports. In the 1960s and 70s, she regularly watched Studio Wrestling, and was a big fan of the professional teams, particularly the Steelers. She rooted for the Boston teams after moving there, especially the Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtics. Her loyalties were torn when the Steelers played the Patriots. Eileen watched golf on TV, despite having never played it. While living in Squirrel Hill, she walked many places and exercised at the JCC. Music was a big part of Eileen’s life.
