Winter on the UBRT

If we get a clear night on 12/21 just after 5PM look up in the SW sky. The last time the event was visible from most of the Earth was 12/21/1226. FYI to all the non-hunters out there be very cautious in the woods the next few weeks, particular this weekend. If out there WEAR ORANGE. PA’s regular firearms deer season opens TODAY Saturday Nov. 28, 2020, and this year, includes a day of Sunday deer hunting on Nov. 29, 2020, then runs through Dec. 12, 2020.

On Sunday we completed the first PA Highlands trail (PHTN) 50k+ from Great Blue Heron Park to Grist Mill Park in Hellertown and back. If you are looking for a great ride or run, this is a nice way to experience some rail trail (~24mi), paved trail (~5mi) and sidewalks/roads (~5mi). It was a nice day and the trails were busy. Go out and ride/run/walk a portion or all of it. I'd like to thank the Appalachian Mtn Club for mapping and marking this great local resource. As a Richland Township Supervisor, I have the opportunity to meet many people who want to make a positive change in our Community. Today, I would like to acknow...ledge Leah Foster. Leah is a sixth grade student attending the Quakertown Community School District. Leah decided that she wanted to do something to help our local food pantries. I'm happy to say that her efforts along with the help of many generous individuals in our Community, she was able to donate over 300lbs of food and help replenish the depleting shelves of our food pantries. Great job Leah!!!

with the new Upper Bucks Rail Trail open. We now have 17 continuous miles from Great Blue Heron Park to Bachman street in Hellertown. When on the rail trail it's easy to follow. South of Veteran's Park. Follow the PA Highlands Trail markers all the way to through Quakertown and south to GBH.

Huge thanks to BSA Troop 13 for their volunteers and clearing the nature trail at veteran's park. They also put down several yards of mulch and removed some super heavy trash tires.
