Rockledge Fire Company 29.12.2020

As we close out 2020 we wanted to wish all of you a Happy and Healthy New Year. This past year was full of new challenges and moments that filled our hearts with pride in serving our community. 2020 was the busiest in the 117 year history of the fire company as we responded to an increasingly high number of calls for service and dealt with the financial strain of the pandemic. Through all of this your support has been unwavering. Seeing so many of you at drive-bys and expressing your thanks for our presence has helped us get through a challenging year. As we move into 2021 many of these challenges will persist and our community continues to need your support. For those that have already donated to this years fund drive we wanted to express our gratitude and remind everyone it’s never too late to donate!

Message to Rockledge Borough Voters: Election Day is upon us, and we hope you will be undertaking one of the greatest privileges of citizenship our Nation has to offer and that is voting. As another form of service to the citizens of our community, we are opening our doors to once again serve as the Borough poling location. In order to provide a safe environment, we have sanitized the station in accordance with CDC, State, and County guidelines. We ask that you follow establi...shed protocols and recognized social distance practices. The Fire Company, and its members are prohibited from intervening in ANY part of the election process or the polling facilities. Enforcement of all guidelines, laws, and practices, including COVID-19 recommendations, are the sole responsibility of the on-site poll workers, in particular the Judge of Elections. Should concerns arise, please direct your questions to poll workers or County Election Officials. Thank you for your continued support of your local 100% volunteer fire company. Special thanks to Wetzel and Son Funeral Home who have graciously allowed us to move our apparatus to their parking lot as a temporary base of operation.

We also remind you to replace detectors every 10 years. Most new detectors have a ten year no-replace battery that alerts you when it’s time to replace the detector. Learn more at the link below, or stop in the firehouse. https://www.nfpa.org//S/Safety-messages-about-smoke-alarms

PLEASE SHARE: Over the past couple of weeks, borough residents have received the Fire Company's annual fund drive letter. Thanks to your support, our fund drive has been a success for many years. This year's fund drive is incredibly important; like many of your families, the fire company has experienced financial strain due to the ongoing pandemic. More than ever, your donations will have a significant impact on our community.... Please take a moment and consider donating to the fire company. We greatly appreciate your continued support!

It is with great sadness that the officers and members of the McKinley, Rockledge, and Pioneer Fire Companies announce the passing of Jules Bauer. Jules served in numerous capacities at all three fire companies, most recently as a Fire Police Officer in Rockledge and Jenkintown. Jules joined the McKinley Fire Company in 1965 and was awarded a life membership in 1990. After retiring from firefighting, he joined the Rockledge Fire Company as a Fire Police Officer in 1994, followed by Pioneer in the same position in 2012. Jules was a member of the Executive Board of the Montgomery County Volunteer Fire Police association. Please keep Jules’ immediate family, and his extensive fire service family, in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
