Yesterday we lost a long time member of our fire Department. Darlene "Gert" Newcomer. She cooked many meals for the banquet hall, miners day, and fundraisers before moving to Virginia then Florida. She was like an aunt to many of the members children when she lived here. She will be truly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with her sister and brothers.
Sincerest sympathy to our brothers and sisters at Oakland Vol. Fire Co. and Chief Helsel's family.
