The one thing anyone could predict about any US election. Lawyers. But I have a problem. Have to draw today by 4PM for Sunday’s spot. Topic ideas? Puppies are cute? Sorry this toon is clipped here. You have to go to the site.? https://www.inquirer.com//lawyers-ballots-presidential-ele
If you're too nervous to watch anymore election news, toon in to Vision2020's women leadership forum at 1PM. On a panel with three terrific women who ACTUALLY lead. I'll be showing some toons of women in politics. https://women100.org/events/womens-leadership-forums/
Anyone still a little nervous? I know a few Philadelphians who are. https://www.inquirer.com//voting-philadelphia-election-202
For once, I was wishing we could set our clocks FORWARD! Like about 48 hours. Let’s get this done. https://www.inquirer.com//joe-biden-donald-trump-election-
If you're feeling a tad nervous about the coming week, take a moment with the ever inventive Lorene Carey's latest project, "Vote That Jawn" set to the Philadelphia Orchestra's rendition of Aaron Copland's "Lincoln Portrait". The video gallery features 400 drawings illustrating "Vote That Jawn" by Philadelphia school students from kindergarten through high school. Lorene's introduction made me glad to be alive. This crop of kids can't get into the polling booth fast enough! Please share link to the video: https://vimeo.com/473972166
Fridays I don't have a cartoon in the paper but still have opinions! This week's police killing of Walter Wallace Jr. in Philadelphia has led to street protests, vigils, and new City Council measures to reform policing. It also sparked two nights of looting and vandalism throughout the city, largely in poor neighborhoods. Walter Williams Sr. has been generous in his response to his son's murder, noting that the the lives of the policemen who shot his son will be forever changed, too. He also said of the looters, "Stop this violence and chaos" and "They're not helping my family; they're showing disrespect." I did this quick sketch in sympathy with that sentiment and with the shop owners, many themselves Black, who have lost their livelihoods. The looting seems to be over. Time for reform and accountability to begin.
Our environment in Philadelphia is clouded by other things than pollution from oil and gas at the moment but this election we get to choose a way forward on dealing with climate change. It's time to turn toward a cleaner environment. https://www.inquirer.com//joe-biden-climate-environment-oi
My sympathies to Walter Wallace's family and city. It's time Philly had trained mental health teams who could deal nonviolently with mental health issues in our neighborhoods. Bullets aren't the answer.

Initially I had November 4 but realized it may be a long and winding road the weeks thereafter. Hope it’s only weeks. https://www.inquirer.com//election-biden-trump-voters-fati

Anyone interested in anything other than the election? Smart, younger colleagues did not recognize the Edward Hicks much painted image referred to as the "Peaceable Kingdom" showing William Penn's treaty with the Lenni Lenape inhabitants of the future Philadelphia. Anyone have other well known images of peace making or Peaceable Kingdoms?
