Sunday funday!! When the world gets to be too much, I really enjoy crafting for myself or others. This Sunday I'm doing some self-care projects and making some truly weird and unique pieces. I'm starting with my trolls! Don't worry, no trolls were truly harmed in the making! I've been taking old dirty trolls, ripping out the hair, and adorning them with crystals, flowers, and live plants. What do you think?!

The perfect Christmas present! I’m proud of Palma Balotta Imbarlina, she created this fantastic stained glass mosaic of her daughter’s cat. This was only her third piece and it came out great! Interesting fact - she and her daughter took the last class I held before the pandemic hit. What was supposed to take a few weeks to complete took months because shortly after that class we had to shut Songbird Artistry for 2 months. Our first class was filled with people, afterwa...rds we worked with masks one on one or with one other person with plenty of room between them. The bonus is that I really got to know Palma who is a lovely person. I enjoyed our time together. Second interesting fact. Elizabeth Imbarlina gave her mother the class as a present last year. I love that she ended up benefiting from the gift via her mom's mosaic Christmas gift. Covid slowed us down but didn’t don’t stop us!!!!! #songbirdartistry #stainedglassmosaic #catart #iloveteaching

Update - Debbie's mom (Jacklyn and Jenn's grandma) was released from the hospital and is back at Independence Court. She is glad to be home. Thanks to everyone who sent their prayers and healing thoughts. This lovely lady is my Grandma Harriet and the handsome gentleman next to her is my grandpa Jack (whom I've never met but think about often). She is so much of the reason I am who I am: a feisty Spitfire who cares about others, enjoys making people smile, and loves being c...rafty and creative. She was diagnosed with covid, and is currently in the hospital. I am beyond thankful that at this point she is stable and so we will be running the shop as normal. As we meander through these uncertain times, we are thankful to all of you for understanding our abrupt hour changes and for sending your Love & well wishes. This is also a reminder to always let your loved ones know how you feel about them in the moment. I had planned on calling her the day she fell, and didn't get the chance to talk to her, so I am endlessly thankful that I had another chance. Be kind. Spread love. Wear a mask.

Yesterday was one of the most relaxing days I've had in a while. As I sat puzzling, I took a moment to really take in how thankful I am for everyone's support. When I thought about how joyous and excited people are to actually purchase and gift my handmade goodies (as well as those from our favorite local Pittsburgh Artisans!) it brought tears to my eyes. Words will never quite capture how thankful I am. To my incredible family with whom I run the shop, customers and friends who share, "like", and comment on our posts, those who send us their well-wishes and those who make a commitment to always shop locally, from the bottom of my heart...thank you for allowing me to live my dream everyday. This was a hard year, and you saw us through. I can't wait to see what 2021 brings With much love and gratitude, Jenny
