Isn't Pennsylvania great! This video is well worth 15 minutes of your time. After you watch, we hope you can get outside and explore a local park. We may be biased but we recommend you check out the Jordan Creek Greenway Trail located right here in the township.- 2465 Wehr Mill Rd. Allentown PA (trail begins just north of the covered bridge) #getoutside #recreateresponsibly #shoplocal #healthyliving... https://vimeo.com/497994478

We would like to thank everybody who came out yesterday to our trick or treat in the park event! It was great seeing so many amazing costumes. We would also like to thank all of the residents who donated candy to make this event such a success! Happy Halloween!
The rain should be done tomorrow afternoon and Trick or Treat is still happening tomorrow night (10/30) from 5-8pm! Both the township wide Trick or Treat and the special Trick or Treat event in Covered Bridge Park are on as scheduled. Have fun and be safe! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Trick or Treat is scheduled for Friday October 30th from 5pm to 8pm. (Rain date October 31st) The extra hour is being offered to encourage social dist...ancing and to provide more daylight for trick or treaters to safely participate. South Whitehall Township would like to encourage all residents to be mindful of current CDC guidelines. When Trick or Treating, please maintain the suggested 6ft social distancing standard. Please note, your typical Halloween mask does not suffice as a facial covering and we ask that you wear an appropriate mask that covers your nose and mouth. In addition, the township would like to offer the following suggestions: 1. If you wish to participate, consider placing candy outside in a small bowl so trick or treaters can pick their own. If you wish to sit outside with your candy, please maintain the 6-foot social distancing standard. 2. If you do not want to participate than simply leave your porch light off. 3. Please only offer pre-wrapped candy. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please also note: If you would like to enjoy trick or treat this year but would rather not visit dozens of houses, South Whitehall Township will be offering up a spooky alternative for all the area’s kids! On October 30th from 5:00pm 8:00pm, township staff will be offering a ‘one stop shop’ for trick or treaters at Covered Bridge Park. All who show up will walk down our (kid-friendly) haunted trail to pavilion #2 where they will be given a goody bag full of sweets and treats. Ghosts, goblins, spooky music, and more await! Get dressed up! We want to see all the scary ghosts, pretty princesses, strong firemen, and powerful superheroes that live in South Whitehall at this year’s trick or treat event. All staff who will be handing out candy will be wearing the proper personal protective equipment (PPE), practicing social distancing and will be following all current Covid-19 guidelines. See more
It’s a beautiful fall day to check out the Jordan Creek Greenway trail. If you haven’t seen it yet, you’re missing out. The trail is located in Covered Bridge Park (2465 Wehr Mill Rd) just north of the red covered bridge.
2020 has been a tricky year but South Whitehall Township’s holiday season is about to get a little brighter! We invite all families, businesses, and groups to join in the fun and adopt a holiday tree. Each tree requires a minimum $45 donation and all funds will support future events and programs offered by the Parks and Recreation Department. Everyone who adopts a tree will have the opportunity to bring lights and decorations to the park and spend time decorating their tree. This is a great way to kick off the holiday season with your family or a great team building activity for your employees. These trees will then be on display for the entire community throughout the month of December for all to see! See the attached brochure for more information - https://southwhitehall.com///Adopt-a-Tree-Brochure-SWT.pdf

The Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) recently awarded South Whitehall Township with a $200,000 grant to support the rehabilitation of Vistas Park. The unique plan, entitled The Big Backyard, calls for the township to repurpose this often-saturated land with a variety of natural elements creating unique and natural opportunities for area residents. After carefully researching design options and gathering public input throughout 2018 and 2019, we are exc...ited to start moving forward with ‘The Big Backyard’ plan to renovate the Vistas Park. Modern technology has removed traditional nature play from many of today's children and adults. The plan calls for the addition of many natural elements including a series of pathways and walking trails which will create natural areas to explore and walk. In addition, the plan calls for the planting of trees creating a wooded area, improvements which will create ADA accessibility to the athletic field and unique park amenities such as natural slides, hammocks and more. The Vistas Park improvements will re-purpose the current lower practice field to create a wider range of activities for park users and add new recreation opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. South Whitehall Township continues to seek grants to see this project through completion. Please keep your eye on our website (southwhitehall.com) and social media pages for more information and updates regarding Vistas Park.
