We are grateful for Emily Adams, first year professional phase student, for being part of the Lab for the past two years. This semester, she is assisting with two studies: (1) Effect of Hand Gesture Cues on the Articulatory Accuracy of German Consonants and Vowels in Singing and (2) Student Perceptions Regarding the Use of Social Media, Digital Simulations, and Virtual Learning Environments in Speech-Language Pathology Education. Emily says that she is "thankful for is all the opportunities I've had to learn and grow here at Duquesne and in the SLP program".
Kate Carlos is a 2nd year professional phase student who is assisting in the lab and is currently focused on the study of, "Student Perceptions Regarding the Use of Social Media, Digital Simulations, and Virtual Learning Environments in Speech-Language Pathology Education". Kate says that she is thankful for, "especially this year, the health and happiness of my family and friends, the amazing support from the DU SLP department, and of course all furry friends ".
It is great to have Abbey Bloom, third year pre-professional phase student, as part of the lab now! Abbey first connected with Dr. Rusiewicz and the Lab for her capstone project in her senior year of high school. She is collaborating on the study of "Comprehensive-Contemporary-Clinical Education in Speech-Language Pathology: Exploring Students’ Self-Efficacy, Attitudes, and Experiences". Abbey says that "one thing that I am thankful for is how hard Duquesne faculty worked to foster a sense of connection despite having the HyFlex model in place for the semester".
Carlee Papi is a third year pre-professional phase student who is assisting with the study of Comprehensive-Contemporary-Clinical Education in Speech-Language Pathology: Exploring Students’ Self-Efficacy, Attitudes, and Experience. Carlee says that, "one thing I am thankful for is my professors showing their passion for their area of study and that has motivated me in many ways in studying Speech-Pathology, along with my friends in the program creating a positive environment in the times we are facing.

Catherine Pickard - first year professional phase student (current project: Comprehensive-Contemporary-Clinical Education in Speech-Language Pathology: Exploring Students’ Self-Efficacy, Attitudes, and Experiences) Catherine says that she is "grateful for the opportunity to build strong relationships with the faculty in our department. Working with both the research and clinical faculty members has really enhanced my learning."
