Due to the many challenges presented, the decision has been made cancel the remainder of the 2020-21 SVHL season. The rink will have the game time slots availa...ble for rental. Thanks to the players and officials who were willing to give this season an opportunity and we hopefully look forward to a more normal season next fall.

Update to Ice Rink Operations The City of Sunbury continues to monitor local conditions related to community transmission of COVID in order to inform our decisi...ons about all City services. Local conditions that form basis for decisions on rink operations include: reports on numbers of new cases in the Valley (Union, Snyder, Northumberland, and Montour Counties); local hospitalizations (Geisinger Danville, Geisinger Shamokin, Lewisburg Evangelical); Valley school district cases and virtual learning decisions; and scholastic sports organizations’ decisions and guidance. The following updates to rink operations will be effective Monday 12/7: - Number of participants on the ice (including players, coaches and referees) is limited to 34. - Practices and intramural play only. Teams traveling from outside the league area are not permitted. - Spectators should be limited as much as possible but are permitted up to 20; must spread out and not congregate in any one area. - Masks must be worn at all times: no exceptions, on and off the ice. - Private parties permitted and must follow same limitations and guidance. No food/drink except personal use beverage containers. - Team coach, event organizer or other specified individual will be designated to enforce compliance with Policy for Rink Visitors. Failure to comply may result in cancellation by rink staff member and immediate departure without refund. The goal of a proclamation is the honor, celebrate or create awareness of an organization, event or signi...ficant issue that contributes to the betterment of our community. Whereas, Alzheimer’s Disease is a degenerative brain disease and the most common form of dementia; and Whereas, Alzheimer’s disease involves parts of the brain that control thought, memory, and language; the deterioration of these functions can impair judgment and reasoning, affect behavior and emotions, and impede the ability to complete daily activities or sustain personal care; and Whereas, more than five million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease and one in three seniors will die from it or another dementia: and Whereas, there is no cure for Alzheimer’s disease; according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States of America; and Whereas, we recognize those battling the disease, those who lost their life, and their families who care for them; while advocating for educational programs, improving support services, and promoting research to find a cause and cure; and Now therefore, be it resolved that I, Kurt Karlovich, being Mayor of the City of Sunbury, County of Northumberland, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, on behalf of the City of Sunbury Council members and citizens, do hereby declare the Month of November 2020 as Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month.
