We absolutely love seeing our families embrace the season and create their own advent spiral. Repost from a SWS Parent: This year, due to covid, our school had to cancel the community Advent spiral walk. We were heartbroken, as it is a beloved Christmas tradition that guides us into the Season with reverence for what really matters. As the days grow shorter, darker, and colder, it’s a time of introspection, and anticipation. The Advent spiral walk brings all of those things... together in an absolutely wonderful night. We celebrated instead in our backyard, with a spiral made of fallen leaves from our trees and cut greens from our neighbors in attendance. With apples candles in hand, we walked to the holiday sounds of choral music on Spotify, a passing train and a neighbor with a chainsaw. After each apple was placed among the candles upon the tree, we sang Silent Night and bid each other good night. It was a truly magical evening and I have never felt so grateful for my tribe. @ Susquehanna Waldorf School See more

First week of Advent This week we celebrate the earth. Try taking a family nature walk and find a stone that seems beautiful to each of you. The first light of Advent is the light of stones. Stones that live in crystals, seashells, and bones. #waldorfadvent #waldorfeducation
