The Arc's headquarters will be open for appointments only on Monday, February 1, 2021. Our final award, the Carol Marboe Star Student Award, is presented to Stephanie Michaud Stephanie has just completed her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology from The Pennsylvania State University. While working on her degree, Stephanie has been flexible to meet the needs of those she supports while she balances her many commitments. Stephanie is patient, kind and thoughtful; she is creative and artistic. Stephanie goes above and beyond in her duties; in ...2020 going the extra mile has been more important than ever. Stephanie has excelled at thinking outside of the box to come up with new crafts to keep those she supports active and engaged. She brings a ray of sunshine to work with her every shift and we thank her for her dedication to our agency and those we support.

The final Carol Marboe Star Employee award is presented to Harley Walters Harley had the privilege of working with Carol for a short time, but Harley cared for Carol like she knew her all along. Much like Carol, Harley is an exceptional person who leads by example, who never backs down from a challenge and has a way of encouraging others to do the same. Harley is passionate about life and her work and it shows in all that she does at The Arc. Harley is encouraging and well ...respected by those she supports, their families and her co-workers. Harley’s star has shined brightly in 2020 and we thank her for her patience, perseverance and positivity.

A Carol Marboe Star Employee Award is also presented to Nicole McNew Nicole brings quiet strength and resilience to our teams. As a Program Generalist, Nicole has journeyed all over our agency to bring her focus, flexibility and compassion to those we support and the program teams when they are in need of staffing support. Nicole is patient, adaptable, detail oriented and organized. She makes a strong connection with those she supports and works creatively to meet their uni...que needs. Nicole is reliable, thoughtful and adaptable; she is always willing to shift gears and jump into a new situation to ensure the best for those we support. We thank Nicole for her hard-work and perseverance in carrying out services wherever and whenever they have been needed in 2020.

The first Carol Marboe award was presented to Sophia Grubb Sophia acts as a wonderful reminder of Carol’s fun-loving and high spirited personality. In addition, Sophia consistently demonstrates excellence, creativity, and commitment to providing high-quality services to individuals with developmental disabilities. Sophia is a strong advocate dedicated to best practices, mentoring, and for promoting positive approaches. Thank you, Sophia, for continuously supporting the mission of The Arc of Centre County.

We are not able to gather at The Arc of Centre County’s Annual Holiday Party this year, but that will not stop us from celebrating 2020's many achievements! In addition to a month of highlighting our employees in our various programs with #GivingTuesdays, yesterday afternoon we surprised several employees with our awards presentation in a ZOOM call!
