The Weeping Glass

We are open from 12-4 if you need an odd adventure with Dad today. Whether they be moms who are dads, dads who are moms, aunts or uncles or grandparents who kept us, raised us, and called us their own....we have a little something for everyone. And plenty of retail therapy and distractions for those who are mourning, struggling, and coping today....because we feel you.

Our favorite piece from this last haul is this 1940s pharmacy fluorescent light box prescriptions sign and we can't thank @revenantradios enough for bringing it back to life! This was previously a hard wired sign, but thanks to our in-house tinker, it's got a new starter and cord, complete with switch so it can be plugged into any household outlet. It leapt back to life this morning and is now gracing the shop with it's vintage glow. Open today until 7pm.

We are fascinated by the bizarre stories of the patron saints and its always cool to see their statues out in the wild, so when we found this St. Lucy, we just had to bring her home. St. Lucy or Lucia of Syracuse was a Christian martyr who died during the Diocletianic Persecution. She is the bearer of light in darkness. Her eyes were removed by her persecutors and she is often portrayed with her eyes on a golden plate. She is the patron saint of the blind and she appears in Dante’s Inferno as a messenger from Mary to Virgil. This 13 inch,1960s chalkware statue of Lucy is available in the Antiques & Curiosities section of www.theweepingglass.com and we are open for in-store shopping today from 12-7pm.

Earl Grey's sad goth cousin, Good Mourning. Our take on a classic brew blended with a little vanilla, and a lot of melancholy. Available in the Parlour Tea section of www.theweepingglass.com We have also restocked all of our curious little tea spoons online, as well as started experimenting with tea cups and other ornate dishware which is only available in-store for the time being.

Let's talk about a Pittsburgh, PA snake oil called Blood Searcher... J.M. Lindsey was a Pittsburgh druggist who created this supposed cure all remedy for "blood impurity" in the 1870s. Finding one of these already rare bottles is awesome....but finding an AMETHYST glass piece is stellar condition is amazing.
