A beautifully written editorial about Frances Livengood Imler that ran in the Meyersdale Republican's May 1st, 1969, edition ... Frances and her fellow Woman's Club members here in Meyersdale established our library in the late 1930s. Going on a century later, we remain grateful.
No joke, really ... At least according to the March 30th, 1916, Meyersdale Republican!
Some great sugar camps were featured in last week's issue of "The New Republic" newspaper. The Taste and Tour weekend continues to raise awareness of the maple industry in our area and promote producers from all walks of life.
As the Meyersdale Republican reported on this day back in 1936, Garrett was left gasping, Boynton was submerged, and Glade City was ravaged by that week's floodwaters. No community in our area escaped the horrible flooding that struck eight and one-half decades ago this year.
