Please help us in giving our newest member Courtney a big Tread House welcome! This rockstar is a loving mother of two beautiful girls, grinds at work, recently decided to further her education and is now carving in time to focus on her health at Tread House! We are so excited that you made the decision to be a part of our community, Courtney! Let's get to know @courtney.kreider.24 with a little Q & A: Why did you decide to try a Tread House class? I was so ready after hav...ing a serious injury, to work out and get my body moving again! You signed up for a membership immediately after your workout! What was it about Tread House that had you hooked on day 1? It was my first workout since being cleared medically to do so and I was so amped! Once I made it through and felt so great, I knew I had to be a part of the team! What advice would you share with someone who may be nervous about trying a class? Go in with an open mind! Especially with COVID, class sizes are smaller, so if you are shy, there are less people in the class at one time. They also have virtual options to suit all preferences! What fitness goals do you have for yourself? Do you know how to tailor your workouts to reach those goals? In the below article, National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) reminds us that our bodies recruit different muscle fibers for different types of activity. Here’s the lowdown: Slow-Twitch Muscles Fibers: think ENDURANCE... Used for distance running, cycling, power walking, stabilization, postural control Resistant to fatigue Produce less force, but can maintain longer contractions (i.e. posture and stabilizing) Fast-Twitch Muscles Fibers: think EXPLOSIVE Used for sprinting, jumping, powerlifting, strength training Fatigue quickly Produce faster and greater force Knowing this, Tread House strives to provide you with workouts that hit each type in varied ways that strengthen and challenge you. The focus of HIIT and endurance will vary daily. Some days will consist of holding onto a challenging but maintainable intensity, aka that hustle pace. I would definitely go with ice cream (lots and lots of ice cream). Also, guacamole... anytime of the day. If I could I would eat ice cream and guac together. If you weren’t in the fitness industry, what career or job would you be in? Before working as a personal trainer I was working in the fundraising department at a university! I loved that job, but at the end of the day personal training (and group fitness) is my passion. What is your ultimate hype song? Front to back bassnectar remix!! I bet y’all can’t listen to it without getting pumped up!! What ego station do you identify with the most? I like being on Boss so I can have a little extra room on the floor and tread!
