As the number of COVID-19 cases across Pennsylvania continue to rise, drastic measures have been enacted to help slow the spread of the coronavirus in our state and communities. This is unchartered territory for us all, but it is clear that we must collectively exercise an abundance of caution and play a responsible role during these unprecedented times to contain the spread of the coronavirus and to help flatten the curve. Understandably, you may have some questions regar...ding how the closure of our office will impact your orthodontic treatment. Below are my recommendations on what you can do until your appointment can be rescheduled: Patients with Traditional Braces Keep up with your oral hygiene! Brush, floss and use mouth rinse. Avoid sticky, chewy food or candy. Follow the treatment recommendations from your last visit. Patients with Clear Aligners Continue to wear your clear aligners as instructed. If you are on your last set of aligners, continue to wear that last aligner until we can reschedule your appointment. Patients with Expanders or Wearing Elastics Continue with your treatment as directed. As always, in the event you have a treatment concern, please call the office at 570-825-7583 and follow the prompts. Thank you for your continued support and understanding. In an effort to minimize the spread of COVID-19 and in adherence to the recommendations of the CDC and American Dental Association, we have made a decision to cancel ALL appointments for the next 2 weeks. We will hopefully reopen on April 1, 2020. We understand that this affects everyone deeply, but the safety of our patients and staff is our greatest concern, and we want to make sure that we are doing our part to stop the spread of the virus. UPDATE for week 3/16/2020 Patients/Parents Please Read in its entirety! As we start this new week amid all the uncertainties about how daily life will proceed, it is clear we must collectively and unselfishly work together to keep one another safe. With this understanding, effective immediately, we will be implementing the following plans at Waterfront Orthodontics.... -Prior to entering the office, EVERYONE please wash your hands in the bathroom down the hall. -Before a patient is signed-in for their scheduled appointment at the Reception Desk, the parent/patient will be asked the following questions: In the past two weeks, have you or anyone in your household had a temperature over 99.5 degrees? Have you or anyone in your immediate family traveled outside of the country in the last 14 days? Have you or anyone in your household been in contact with an individual who has tested positive for COVID19? Are you, the patient, or a family member experiencing any of the following symptoms: fever, dry cough, joint/muscle aches, fatigue and/or respiratory symptoms such as shortness of breath? If you answer yes to any of these questions, we will reschedule the appointment. Furthermore, if a patient appears to have any of the above symptoms, we reserve the right to reschedule the appointment. If you or your child have a compromised immune system or are considered high risk, please feel free to call (570-825-7583) or email us ([email protected]) to cancel your appointment. Due to the volume of cancellations, we will ask that you call to reschedule when the social distancing restrictions have been lifted. -Prior to the start of treatment, we will require that ALL PATIENTS brush and rinse with an antiseptic mouth rinse in effort to limit possible exposure. -We are asking that only patients and an accompanying parent/adult enter the office to limit social interactions. Siblings, friends, etc. are encouraged to stay home when possible or remain outside in their vehicles. Alternately, we will be happy to call a parent to brief them regarding treatment and schedule a follow-up appointment. -To reduce the potential surfaces of contact where cross-contamination can occur, we will temporarily discontinue the use of our coffee station and are removing magazines. Our game room will also remain closed. We will continue to communicate any further changes as they become available.
