The City of Bradford fire department conducted live fire evolutions in our burn building. This training was through BC3's Drill Night Program. Firefighters were able to properly decon afterwards thanks to Firewipes. The training was led by instructors Tim Burkhouse and Chris Spaich.
We posted this two years ago today. We recently had the chance to train with the Mauler at our facility. It's just as impressive as the original. Sometimes an 6 or 8 pound axe isn't going to get the job done. Some companies opt to keep a sledge or Fire Maul Tools on their rigs to get the job done. Having either of these tools means your hitting your bar with more mass, which in turn gives you more force. The maul has some additional benefits. You're able to take a roof with it, use it as a wedge, or marry it to your halligan to make a 20 pound battering ram. The only way you'll get good is to train, take a class, drill in-house, do something! Have any tips? Send them our way!
Last weekend our students conducted searches, dry line drills, and ventilation in live smoke. Students and staff used Firewipes afterwards for decon. We'd like to thank Firewipes again for their generous donation and efforts to prevent firefighter cancers.
