The next meeting of the UUG Book Club will take place at 6:30 pm, Thursday, January 12 at church. For discussion will be The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead, newly selected for the New York Times list of 100 Notable Books of 2016. The Times gives this description of the book: Whitehead’s well-built, stunningly daring novel turns the historical freedom network from metaphor to reality, complete with tracks, locomotives and platforms. The winner of this year’s National Book Award for fiction. The book is available in paperback and at libraries.
