Look. We need to have a little chat. It’s not YOU. It’s your system. Do you ever feel like your work takes longer than it needs to?... How babies are born, and money gets delivered, and relationships are made are all systems too. Thank God for systems. Because once we can identify something as a system we can make it better. We can tweak them to give us more of what we need. We can experiment with them. We can learn how they *really* work. We can profit from them. We can eliminate our worry with them. . Do you hate paying taxes? Of course you do. We all do! (At least all of us who make a profit and pay taxes ) What about the unacceptable tax?... This is the tax we pay with our time, and our emotions, and our relationships when we’ve accepted unacceptable behavior for too long. Now this happens in all places in our lives - but it is especially dangerous in our businesses and partnerships. You know how easy it can happen. Someone does something out-of-bounds. But you’re busy, so you don’t call them out. And then you forget to talk to them about it later. . And then it happens again. And again. By now you feel guilty bringing it up because you haven’t said it before. So it becomes the norm. Now your job is BIG. Because you need to pay the tax (with interest) on all of those conversations, those miss-steps, those boundary violations that you brushed off. It all starts with one courageous conversation though.
