Forest Hills Mayor Frank Porco 07.07.2021

In the words of our Mayor Frank Porco and on behalf of the Tree City Team, the Forest Hills Democratic Committee, and Indivisible Forest Hills... Thanks to all ...of you who voted in yesterday's Primary in Forest Hills. The astounding amount of support Forest Hills residents showed us at the polls means so much. In a word, humbling. You've entrusted us with a tremendous responsibility. And now it's time to get to work. #treecityteam

This year, Forest Hills Borough Council adopted a resolution directing Chief Williams and myself to establish a pre-arrest law enforcement assisted diversion program. We were the first community in the eastern suburbs to adopt this resolution and the second community in all of Allegheny County. This program is designed to offer an alternative option for low-level offenders, either through social services or public health intervention as compared to jail time. This program... will ensure the more vulnerable members of our community are directed to the appropriate channels to get them the assistance they need whether it be mental health assistance, counselling, or rehabilitation. It will also reduce unnecessary involvement of the criminal justice system and police officer burn out. The Borough of Forest Hills is committed to ensuring racial, economic, and social justice for all of its citizens in a practical manner. I am very proud to announce this resolution which in my opinion, demonstrates Forest Hills Borough’s commitment to ensuring equity in our policies and treating every member of the community, especially those who are most vulnerable, with dignity and compassion.
