The Department is working with a student from Seton Hill University on a project for her Restorative Justice class. She chose Washington Township Police for this project. We will be featuring an officer a week for the next few months. She interviewed the officers with a specific set of questions. The questions and answers are listed below. This Weeks featured Officer is Chief Slagle. How long have you been an officer?... 34 years What made you want to be an officer? I was always really involved with the community, I started out as a volunteer jr fireman, moved onto EMS as an EMT. It seemed like serving the community is what I wanted to do. I attended Indiana University of PA and majored in Criminal Justice. I moved on to law enforcement so I could still serve the community and make a living while doing what I enjoy. Do you have any specialized training? Chiefs of Police Command Institute for Police Executives through Penn State, Polex (Police executive development) basic and advanced, and many other trainings and certifications along the way. What’s your favorite part about working in the township? Being born and raised out here, I know a lot of people. In knowing them, it makes the job a lot easier. The community is very receptive to the police and it is a wonderful place to work. See more

We would like to remind all residents of Washington Township (actually all areas) to lock your vehicles and remove all items of value from them. We had several entries in to unlocked vehicles through Thursday night in to Friday, May 22. Cash, wallets, credit cards were all stolen from those unlocked vehicles. The Thieves even stole a car from a driveway that had the keys left in it. Again, Please lock your cars and remove anything of value from them. Do not become a victim of opportunity.

Anytime someone needs help when they are scared, when they have an emergency, when they are at their most vulnerable they can call 911 and a telecommunicator will answer. At any hour of the day or night, telecommunicators answer our calls. They will be professional, kind, compassionate, and they will send help when we need it. Telecommunicators represent the heart of the vital system that knits our communities and our nation together. You are the lifeline to many, especially to us. Thank You for all you do!
