Dental Health First

The year was 1977. First Class stamps were 13 cents, gas was 65 cents a gallon, and the average price of a new car was $4317. Other occurrences included the death of Elvis Presley, the release of the original Star Wars movie, and Arnold Palmer hitting a golf ball off the Eiffel Tower. It was also the year that I started practicing dentistry. It has been a particularly rewarding career considering how many people’s lives we improved for the better. This is not a journey th...at I traveled alone. I had a lot of help and I trusted a lot of people who believed in me and my message. The message was simple. Hold the patients in the highest esteem and treat them with kindness and respect. I want our patients to know how much we appreciated your choosing us for your dental care. It is not easy being a dental patient. We always expected a lot from you just as we expected a lot from ourselves. Words cannot express my gratitude for having known all of you. I would like to thank Dr. David Vaughan for having enough faith in me to become my partner. I learned a lot from his approach to dentistry and how warmly he relates to his patients. I am forever grateful for his sincerity and kindness toward me. I am thankful to Dr. Alicia Yokum for believing enough in our practice to buy in as a partner. I wish her nothing but the best with her career in private dental practice. I am forever thankful for the wonderful people who were members of my staff over the years. You are the true reason for the success of our practice. Thank you to all of you who made our patients proud to be members of our practice and for your advocacy on behalf of them. You will always be remembered by me for your professionalism, graciousness, and diligence, and for creating an atmosphere of warmth that made practicing dentistry with you a profoundly rewarding experience. I would like to thank my parents who made great sacrifices in order to provide me with opportunities to succeed in life. I would like to thank my wife, Gena. In 1973 she took a chance on a young guy from Canonsburg. I will always be thankful for her belief in me, her unwavering support, and for the sense of humor she needed to live with me.
