There's not a day that goes by in which I don't think about @pisgahnationalforest. I'll be leaving Gainesville in a couple of days for Jacksonville. I haven't found a place yet but I have had such an intimate relationship over the past 25 years with the beaches outside of Jacksonville and honestly, I never knew it. I checked into a hotel in Atlantic Beach years ago and the person said, "Welcome back." It took me by surprised because I had never been to this place before in my mind but when they ran my card, obviously I had stayed there before. They always give me the honeymoon suite if it isn't booked and as I'm writing this, I don't know the name or location of the place, I just tend to end up there because you can walk outside your room onto the beach. I rented me an RV this time, in walking distance to the beach.

I don't like to admit what some of my favorite books are because of their stigma but The Prince by Niccolo Machiavelli is one of them that I reference in many situations...This morning I was thinking about how so many people who have no talent but have money can produce stuff while a lot of the most talented people that I know are "starving artists" and may die that way. Machiavelli talks about wealth and different ways that those acquire and maintain their wealth. He says that there are those who can't acquire but if they had wealth could maintain it and those who have it but can't maintain it. He further goes to say that's rare for the ability to both acquire and maintain rest in one person.

These days I kind of don't give a fuck. Shit happens and it seems like making the best out of bad situations is my life's narrative. Missed a flight yesterday and couldn't get a refund. It ain't no use arguing with these country folks. I woke up this morning and my phone is not working. I have already had to cancel a job but I have to cancel again if this phone doesn't work in a few hours. I'm tired of arguing with my credit card company. They won't send me a new card to my c...urrent location and want me to send them proof of my home address and my license, birth certificate and checks weren't enough. They want a recent bill. How am I supposed to show them a recent bill from Philadelphia when I'm in Florida? Undoubtedly I'm going to face the same problem with getting a new phone shipped to me, I don't have an address. Plus, if your phone is lost, stolen or broken they want you to call them. Call them on what a payphone? That's what I mean, these days when shit happens, I just tell myself that you're built for the dumbshit. I wish life was a little different than this because it sounds good but it ain't fucking easy just existing in survival mode. See more
