Here is an awesome idea from one of our favorite professional chamber musicians, a member of the PUBLIQuartet.

Composer Maurice Draughn is meeting with our Dynamic Trio trio today to play through a beautiful new piece he has written for them, titled Triptych. Juliana-harp, Adah-flute, Sophia-violin, and their coach Dr. Brittany Trotter, will be preparing the piece virtually, and hope to perform it together in 2021. Introducing one of our awesome chamber groups this year, the Sharp Naturals! These 5th-8th grade dynamic musicians were matched as a quartet this summer for Three Rivers Young Peoples Orchestras's virtual Camp Crescendo, and they decided to stay together for the 2020-21 school year! Teresa, Brady, Gautham, and Chance are working on Beethoven's 5 Contretänze with YC coach Marlea Simpson. Ms. Simpson is a 2nd-year Fellow in the New World Symphony, Principal Viola in the Chicag...o Sinfonietta, and was hailed by the Chicago Tribune as a new 21-year-old wunderkind in 2016, when she joined the Grant Park Orchestra. We love finding silver linings of this crazy time, and one is getting to work with an awesome coach like Marlea who lives a thousand miles away! In addition, many of our students participate in wonderful school-based music programs and with terrific private teachers including (for this quartet) Arrington Strings - Devin Arrington, violin teacher, Elise Feagley Cello Studio, Andrew Wickesberg, and Kiki Barley. We’re looking forward to introducing you to all of our fantastic chamber ensembles throughout the 2020-21 Season! First up is the Dynamic Trio: This flute, violin, and harp group are looking forward to receiving a new composition being written for them by Detroit-based composer and harpist Maurice Draughn. The students hope to premiere it sometime next year. AND we spy their coach, Dr. Brittany Trotter, on the cover of the current American Suzuki Journal! Check it out... in the comments! Dr. Trotter is Adjunct Professor of Musicianship at Duquesne University's Mary Pappert School of Music, Adjunct Instructor of Flute at West Virginia Wesleyan College, Contributing Faculty in Music at Dickinson College, Flute Instructor at Johnstonbaugh's Music Centers, Woodwinds Teacher at Waldorf School of Pittsburgh, Program Coordinator at Guardians Of Sound, and Flute Teaching Artist at Hope Academy.
