From today's Gettysburg Times: "In recent weeks your coverage of the Adams County Historical Society’s capital campaign to build A Home for your History has been a superb example of making the public aware of the value of history and how we each may, and should help. The planned site and buildings will present all of us with opportunities that have never been available to us to see, to learn, even in some cases to touch a piece of our own personal history. There are Soci...ety members all over the country with roots here in Adams County. Whether local or distant, whether a native in the county or a new resident, this campaign is something we can all relate to and with which we should be proud to have our names associated. Regardless of how many other organizations one belongs to, the Adams County Historical Society is the one that represents all of us. Don’t be left out! Let’s pitch in and be able to applaud when the ground is broken for this needed new home for our history!" -Barbara J. Finfrock, ACHS Capital Campaign Committee Learn more here: www.achs-pa.org/campaign

Join Licensed Battlefield Guide Jasan Hileman for a comprehensive look at the Moses McClean farm within the Gettysburg National Military Park. Situated along the Mummasburg Road just north of town, the farm location becomes a collision point of contending armies on July 1. Like many of the ‘battlefield farms’, it’s history before and after the battle are largely forgotten. Journey back in time as Jasan reviews the story of the family living on the farm and how they coped with... hundreds of troops and horses tramping through their crops, occupying their buildings, and taking their possessions. Through careful research of tax records, property deeds, and damage claims he brings their story alive. Jasan Hileman resides in nearby Greencastle, PA with his wife Denise and three children. In addition to his commitment as a Licensed Battlefield Guide, Jasan works full time for First Energy’s Potomac Edison Company in Maryland. He has been studying Civil War history since 1991 and became a Licensed Battlefield Guide for the Gettysburg National Military Park in 2016.
