Progression of occlusal equilibration. This is a case of shear mouth that was due to pain from a fractured 409 molar. Years later, you can't hardly tell that th...e 409 was extracted as all the lower teeth have shifted together. The mouth is balanced and aging well. For all the practices out there that are offering more extractions and minimally invasive options for removing teeth, I commend you on bringing modern oral surgery techniques to the horses of the world. I would also take a minute to highly recommend that you spend as much or more time learning proper occlusal equilibration techniques so that you can prevent secondary deleterious effects and malloclusions from developing after diseased teeth have been removed. The two skill sets go hand in hand and are both critical if you are looking for a good long term success.

This particular farm, second horse over the years that’s had a stick between the upper teeth! That’s pretty rare! Mini was in excellent condition, not having any trouble eating. He feels better now! Get your horses checked at least once a year folks:)
