Do you have a black thumb? Maybe try a cat instead of a houseplant! How cool is this promotion for kitties at Pennsylvania SPCA who need a little more care and patience??

When you’re involved in rescuing animals, lots of things can surprise you (often, not in the most positive ways). But this week we were given a tiny wonderful surprise when Ruby, one of the bunnies rescued as part of our partnership with @luvnbunns, delivered a healthy, single little baby! Both mom and baby are doing great and we can’t wait to watch this baby grow big and strong, just like their mama! Help us name this Easter surprise below! #hand2paw_philly #hand2paw #like #follow #rescue #bunny #easter #lfl #fff #kittens #puppies #baby #babybunny

Easter is not a time to adopt/buy a rabbit, but it was a great time for Hand2Paw to help Luv-N-Bunns rescue 6 bunnies. Out of the 47 bunnies saved by the Pennsylvania SPCA, 24 were rescued by Luv-N-Bunns!! These guys are on their way to being healthy and will be looking for families in a few weeks after they are fixed! In the meantime, they are enjoying being spoiled with unlimited Timothy hay, fresh veggies, and lots of play time at our Hand2Paw location! If you’re thinking ...of adding a bunny to your family, here’s a few tips to keep in mind: Bunnies are complex, sensitive and wonderful companions, who should not be given as Easter or Christmas presents. Bunnies should not be housed in a small cage, and require lots of daily playtime in a bunny safe space, as they are avid chewers (who are surprisingly creative and nosey ). All bunnies should be spayed and neutered, which helps them be litterbox trained. Bunnies require unlimited hay, which should comprise 80% of their diet (the rest being Timothy based pellets and veggies, such as romaine and parsley) Monitor your bunny around other animals. Although they can happily live with other animals, they are fragile and being chased or pounced on by other animals is stressful and can cause serious injury (larger bunnies tend to do better in homes with cats and dogs). Bunnies should not be frequently picked up and carried. You can safely spend time with a bunny cuddling on your floor or by letting them walk into your lap. Frequent handling is stressful to prey animals like rabbits, and can cause serious injuries if your bunny jumps out of your arms or falls from a height greater than 4ft. #hand2paw #bunnylove #bunnyrescue

Last week for #wednesdaywellnesswalks (which actually happened on Thursday because of the ) we weren’t able to bring a shelter dog with us, only because we were going to a 9 acre off leash dog park, Timber Creek Dog Park Gloucester Twp. in South Jerseyto hike and observe dog body language! While we often use images and videos as part of the learning process for our youth, behavior is dynamic and constantly changing! Watching how dogs diffuse conflicts and relate to one another helps us learn more about our own conflict resolution and what we can learn from animals through #humaneeducation #hand2paw_philly #hand2paw #compassion #dogbodylanguage
