L&M TIP: DON’T POUR GREASE DOWN THE DRAIN Grease or any fatty oils should never be poured down drains. Things like bacon grease can solidify once it cools and clog-up your drain lines. Liquid grease can also thicken over time and cause clogged drains. The best way to dispose of grease is to allow it to cool completely and throw it in the trash. Is your kitchen sink draining slowly? We can help! Give us a call at L&M Plumbing: (610) 756-3069

L&M PLUMBING TIP: MAINTAIN YOUR SEPTIC Septic tanks should be pumped, given a good cleaning and inspected every 3-6 years depending on usage. During a septic inspection, professionals can replace worn-out parts, make repairs, and catch any potential issues. During this time, it may be a good idea to have the septic pipes cleared of debris and build-up with a high-pressure jetter.... Maintaining your septic will keep your system working properly. RYAN’S PLUMBING TIP: USE THE CORRECT PLUNGER Believe it or not, there are TWO types of plungers -- a sink plunger and a toilet plunger. A sink plunger (aka a cup lunger) has a flat bottom and is shaped like a shallow cup. It typically comes in a lovely shade of eraser pink It’s designed to create a vacuum on flat/shallow surfaces such as (you guessed it) a kitchen sink.... A toilet plunger is typically black and is shaped like a bell with a flange at the bottom. It is also called a flange plunger. The flange is inserted into the large drain of the toilet and the bell portion rests on the bottom of the bowl. The unique shape creates a vacuum in toilet drains. It’s a good idea to check your plungers every year to make sure it isn’t getting brittle and is ready to do the job when needed. Got a stubborn drain that just won’t go with the flow? RYAN’S PLUMBING TIP: LET IT DRIP! Freezing temps got you thinking about your pipes? Keep a trickle of water running to keep your pipes from freezing. The cost of a pipe repair far exceeds that of the additional cost to your water bill! Worried about your water lines? Call L&M Plumbing for an inspection: (610) 756-3069

RYAN’S PLUMBING TIP: BRACE YOURSELVESWINTER IS COMING! Before freezing temperatures set in, check to make sure your outside faucets, hydrants, and sprinklers are drained and turned off. Any attached hoses should also be removed. Pipe damage and ruptures typically occurs inside walls and can extend far into your home. Within your home, you should try to eliminate sources of cold air near your pipes by fixing drafty doors and windows. It’s also important to identify your home...’s freezing points and consider insulating your pipes before the deep freeze sets in. Need some assistance winterizing your home?
