Hello Everyone, The School tax bills are out. If you don't receive your tax bills within the next week please contact me so that I can get a copy to you in time before the discount period ends. when you receive the occupation tax bills from the school district please review them carefully. If there are any changes to be made please contact the Wayne county assessment office at 570-253-5970 extension 4010 and ask them to update your occupation tax bill to the correct information. This will initiate a change in the main system, they will issue me a white sheet to make the change to my system and then I will correct the bill and mail a new one to you. You have until September 30th to make any changes to the occupation tax bill. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

I really wish you lawyers and title closing agents would explain to your new buyers how the taxing system works here in Wayne County. It really bothers me that new buyers get pissed off and start screaming at me when they get hit with these extra school taxes and township taxes that they know nothing about. NEW BUYERS, please understand that I am just the tax COLLECTOR. I do not make the bills I do not see the bills and I do not assess how much you get billed! if anyone has any questions regarding this issue please call the Wayne county assessment office located in the basement of the Wayne County Court House.
