Firefighter Survival Training For our Tuesday Night Drill members worked on skills that would be paramount to their survival if stuck in a structure. We reviewed calling a Mayday and giving a C.A.N. or L.U.N.A.R. report. Firefighters then had to enter our entanglement simulator and give a satisfactory mayday once becoming stuck.

House Numbers Clearly displaying your house number not only helps the fire department but the police and EMS as well. Make sure that you can see your house number from the street and in the event of an emergency turn on any lights that may help illuminate them.... If we can't find you, we can't help you.

Carbon Monoxide (CO) Poisoning Each year approximately 50,000 people are admitted to the hospital with CO poisoning. With the incoming cold weather and 6 to 9 inches of expected snow it is important to understand the causes and symptoms of CO poisoning.... Common household generators of CO include idling vehicles in the garage, improperly vented (or obstructed by snow) water heater and furnace vents, blocked flues and chimneys, and any other household appliance that burns fuels. Symptoms can resemble those of the flu or Covid and comprise of chest pain, breathing problems, fatigue, headache, and nausea. CO alarms should be installed on each floor of your home, including the basement. They should be placed 5 feet above the ground or on the ceiling. Like smoke detectors, CO alarms should be checked monthly and have their battery changed twice a year.
