Let’s get snackin’! Using the plate method for your snacks helps plan them out properly. This is an example of what I eat as a snack. Rice cakes and apple for carbs, protein peanut butter for fat/protein, and a beef stick for protein. Also pictured is a kid’s size version. Teach your kids healthy habits early on so they adopt those habits for life. ~Barry
Accessory work has its place in CrossFit. Adding direct bicep and tricep work will only make you better in regards to injury prevention. If your elbow joints are stronger, do you think you are less likely to tweak something doing pull-ups? You bet! This is just one example. There are plenty of other accessory exercises to choose from for different body parts. Lastly, who doesn’t love a great arm pump

Beware the lure of the sexy metcon. I remember hearing that at my level 1 seminar back in 2007. Enter the focus day. Today we back squatted and did planks afterwards. That’s it. No chippers, no amraps, no rounds for time. You do not and should not destroy yourself with a metcon every day. You won’t last long if you do. Focus days could be a heavy day like todays squats. A sprint day like 30 sscond intervals with rest built in, or gymnastics days where it is just you against your own frame. If you must add in a metcon, make sure it is short, fast, and complementary to your focus.

Amazing day for a workout. Check out the natural sprinting ability of these kids! And the teens killed it today with deadlift maxes and sprints, swings and more! Great day for fitness. Proud of our kids/teens program. Thankful for our outdoor space in Babylon Business Campus!
Week of 11/2/2020. Let's give the turf a shot on Friday. It's lonely. Hope everyone had a nice weekend and a spooky Halloween. See you at the gym. A few things: 1) Congratulations to Frank Steck and Jamie Casper who welcomed their second daughter into the world last week. Penelope Johanna Steck was born on 10/27 at 9lbs and 20" long. Everyone is doing well.... 2) Happy Birthday to Coach Kari today (Nov 1st) 3) We are seeing A LOT of new faces at CFG lately. Be sure to welcome them as we usually do :) 4) The CFG Newsletter will be starting up again this month. Be on the lookout for it.
