So many people think they can't have PTSD because their trauma wasn't "bad enough". But PTSD has nothing to do with the severity of your trauma. Instead, PTSD concerns whether you can recover or not after something hard happens.... In reality, doctors think of PTSD as ptsD. The disorder part of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder is what we consider when we're thinking about a diagnosis. We determine Is the client having symptoms like the ones listed here? (Full link in blog post) https://www.nimh.nih.gov//post-traumatic-stres/index.shtml Are these symptoms interrupting the client's life? NOTHING in the PTSD criteria asks "Was the trauma severe enough for me as the clinician to take seriously?" "Do other people have it worse than this client?" "Is what happened to them as bad as going to war?" You don't see those questions because they have nothing to do with a PTSD diagnosis. Instead, you see criteria like "To be diagnosed with PTSD, an adult must have all of the following for at least 1 month: At least one re-experiencing symptom At least one avoidance symptom At least two arousal and reactivity symptoms At least two cognition and mood symptoms So please, stop focusing on the T (Trauma) part of PTSD and wondering - "was my trauma big enough to warrant treatment?" It's just not a clinical or accurate way to think of this disorder. Instead, focus on your symptoms and the degree to which they're in the way of you moving on from the stress and living the life of your dreams. Your symptoms - not your story - determine if you need treatment. If you're starting to think you need help, I'm here for you. It's not magic, it's biochemistry. Sometimes they feel similar . Actually, every day in the clinic we see good medicine ( good biochemistry) do miraculous things to change people's lives. 92% of Americans do not consume enough vitamin D in their diets according to the CDC. An estimated 8-30% of Americans are currently Vitamin D deficient due to lack of supplementation and/or sunlight exposure. Your vitamin D supplement does not work to make your shelves, ... your bathroom cupboards, or your kitchen cabinets healthier just by sitting there It only works to make you healthier if and when you actually take it. It also works best if you take the right kind, the right dose, and if you consume it regularly. Testing vitamin D is easy, cheap, and can be done at home. Name another intervention that *reverses osteoporosis, osteopenia, hypertension, diabetes*, *improve libido, energy and metabolism* and does all of this without side effects.... I'll wait. But not for too long, because I really want to talk to you about weightlifting. I wasn't always a fan of lifting of powerlifting. I am now, though, because I have been really impressed over the years with weighlifting's ability to reverse disease when done right. Take Dr. Kresge's practic...e, for example. He's got 60+ year old women deadlifting over 150 pounds, reversing their osteoporosis, and finally healing their injuries. He's helping middle-aged men finally getting their chronic pain healed, their testosterone up, and their spark back. It's really nothing short of miraculous. So many awesome things happen when people start to use their bodies to move serious weight.
