Loss + Gain are NOT valued equally. There's a lot of psychological biases and forces at play when it comes to changing our health, our diet and our body. One of these is Loss Aversion. ... We place greater value on what we LOSE than what we might gain. One study showed that there is more PAIN associated with losing $100 than there is PLEASURE associated with gaining $100. In fact the pain of losing $100 is TWICE as strong as the pleasure of gaining $100. We will fight to avoid LOSING something more than we'll fight to GAIN anything. We will fight against LOSING time in the day for the gym We will fight against LOSING our favorite foods We will fight against LOSING money that we have to spend on a trainer We will fight against LOSING our leisure time for the gym We will fight against to keep these "losses" than we will fight for a gain. Gaining health, energy and vitality Gaining more TIME due to increased productivity after a workout Gaining more YEARS in your life Gaining more happiness and better moods Gaining more self confidence ...The brain will FIGHT against losses, and make it so we completely overlook the potential gains... Even tho the GAINS we get provide more value than the losses. If we don't stop and bring awareness to psychological biases like these, our brains will run wild on us and never bring us anything greater in life. If we don't stop and bring awareness to this, we'll suffer from the "Status quo bias" where we fight changes to our current status quo. You CAN have more in your life. You CAN have more energy. You CAN have better health. You CAN improve your mood and add years to your life, and more LIFE to those years. The secret is in bringing awareness to these gains that are possible. The SECRET is to bring more POWER and pleasure to your potential gains: Envision life with more energy, vitality, strength and confidence... Paint the picture of how that would benefit you and make it as powerful and meaningful as possible. How would that benefit your family? How would that benefit you financially? How would that benefit your quality of life? How would that benefit and be a gain for the ones we love most and NEED our absolute best version of ourselves? Should you squat with a kettlebell or a dumbbell? Most of the time, our members are going to Squat with a kettlebell. 9 times out of 10, Kettlebells are faster, easier to pick up, and hold. They should be the go-to item for most squats.... What about dumbbells? If you have wrist issues, holding a kettlebell might be tough to hold properly, so a dumbbell might be easier to hold. If you're using heavier weights, the kettlebells can be a challenge to hold. In that case, switching to a dumbbell might be better for you. Melissa has been progressing her squats for awhile now. In the picture she's squatting with a 60lbs dumbbell. We switched her to dumbbells after kettlebells became too much of a challenge for her to hold.
