Melting..... slowly still from the edges! When will the ice be all gone? By the weekend?
Please take note, especially with warmer temperatures in the forecast and expectations of another record visitation year ahead!
Even though the park won't be open for programming this weekend, you can still tour a number of local maple producers.
More about what's happening, or about to happen, in our forests.
With these warmer days, it's maple season! Find out what's going on at the park and from several local producers at this upcoming online program: https://events.dcnr.pa.gov//virtual_sweet_happenings_on_ma
What name do you think best describes it?
Ice updates for our park and other lakes in the area. Thanks to Don for providing these updates!
XC ski track is set through the campground loops and a little near the beach parking area. Sledding hill is looking good. Parking lots are cleared quite well. We'll see what the rain brings, but hopefully the snow holds after it freezes again. Snowshoeing is best for park trails due to the snow depth. We ask that you snowshoe NEXT to the ski track, not IN the ski tracks so that they can be enjoyed by xc skiers. Be safe out there and enjoy!
Updated images from today of the sledding hill and some very snowshoe-worthy park trails. Be advised, park roadways are still a bit slush-covered and you should take care in parking to avoid getting stuck. Ice is minimal with some out fishing already. It's not consistent and needs a good cold snap. Be safe!
A very well-timed full moon!
Bats are critical parts of our ecosystem. In our area, all bats feed only on insects, so unless you like mosquitos, you should at least appreciate what bats do for us! Celebrate bats with BAT WEEK! https://www.batweek.org/
Good advice for this time of year. Be safe and be seen.

Update on the Pine Creek Trail work.
Results from the 2020 special-edition TRYathlon & 5K are now available. It was self-supported and self-timed and spread out over almost two weeks. Lots of great comments. We'll look forward to it again in 2021! Results at https://www.stepoutdoors.org/ind/annual-events/tryathlon-5k
Beautiful out there today around the lake and on the trails!
A blue moon on Halloween, great views of Mars and more. This month's highlights in the night sky and other resources from NASA. https://www.jpl.nasa.gov///1/see-a-blue-moon-on-halloween/
Programs in the area. Very cool.
Popular local trail. Please note, the section from Tiadaghton south to Rattlesnake Rock is closed through Nov 1st.
Some great fall color out there!
