This article from the August 15, 1964, issue of the Indiana Gazette featured a front-page article on the closing of the Lucernemines power plant -- with its tw...o large smokestacks that were actually pin-pointed on maps used by aviators! Does anyone remember this view from Rt 119 heading to Indiana? See more
This article about the fire that destroyed the Lucernemines company store appeared in the Indiana Gazette on January 5, 1967. The headline and article are two separate images. Sorry, but I could not find the continuation of the article on pages 4 and 14.
From Dr Kevin Patrick:. BEAHR'S CASH & CARRY, HOMER CITY, PA. Before World War II, Homer City people went to John Beahr's grocery store to get their Hohner harmonicas. John Beahr left Homer City for Detroit, Michigan in 1942 and that's where he died in 1957. Anyone know the address of this old Homer City grocery?

In this beautiful photograph (courtesy of my cousin Delray Palmer, nephew of Amerigo Dalla Corte of Utah), where Rodolfo Dalla Corte appears on his Indian sidec...ar that you see in front of some hills, an in-depth investigation conducted near Homer City through Street View , is almost certainly the one seen from the bridge over the Two Lick Creek on OLd Rte 56, as seen from the second photo which, among other things, highlights the analogy with that of the current bridge (on the right in white) in the old photo. Along the way there should be a farm (we would be grateful if anyone could help us) where Rodolfo will stay paying the rent with Sunday farm work. At the end of the road it is possible to find the village of Young Township near Wiskey Run where Battistino and Attilio Dalla Corte cousins of Rodolfo stayed, considered at the time the outbreak of the mafia of the "Black Hand" that was raging in the area.My grandfather Rodolfo Dalla Corte (DacarĂa) in Homer City PA in 1914 with his new Indian motorcycle. He was an Italian miner / bricklayer who immigrated from 1912 to 1919 building houses and digging mines.I wish someone from Omer City recognized him ! See more
