****COMPUTER SCAMS**** There are numerous scams going on constantly with the sole purpose of defrauding people via identity theft, phone scams, and other fraud perpetrated by using technology. Our elderly community is the main target. Please take a minute to inform people in your family and community to be aware of what's taking place. Today I began an investigation where an elderly Larksville resident lost tens of thousands of dollars via a phone scam. The suspects taking... part in these scams hide behind technology to shield their crimes. We must educate the would be victims so they know not to give any information to a person they don't know. https://www.fbi.gov/sca/common-scams-and-crimes/elder-fraud See more

Great job to both first responders who took swift and selfless action when responding to this incident. It's important to recognize them for putting their own safety aside to complete the rescue of children. Fantastic job! https://www.pahomepage.com//firefighter-speak-on-rescuin/

The officers of the Larksville Borough Police Department would like to extend their gratitude to Luzerne County District Attorney Stephanie Salavantis for once again supporting local law enforcement by giving $7,979.22 of seized drug money for the purchase of new Taser 7's. Throughout her time in office, District Attorney Salavantis has gone out of her way to support police departments in Luzerne county. I would like to thank her and the staff at the DA's office for their ongoing support.

Over the weekend, the Larksville Police Department received a complaint involving a possible scam. The resident received a telephone call from a male claiming to be the District Attorney from Florida. The male told the resident that her grandson had been in a motor vehicle accident and now needed bail money. The resident received another telephone call from a male claiming to be her grandson. When he was questioned about his voice sounding different, the male said it was bec...ause of the accident and that he had been beaten up while in jail. The male posing as the grandson insisted several times that he needed cash money for bail. The resident was asked to place a large some of cash money in an envelope and send it in the name of her grandson to an address in Florida. After mailing the envelope, the resident spoke with other family members who told her that the grandson never left Pennsylvania. Upon call backs to the telephone numbers provided, all were disconnected.
