Holiday tip for our DIY audience: Installing that new dishwasher seems like an easy task - and it really should be. Guess what a VERY surprising number of DIY installers don’t do correctly though?? Wire nuts. DIY safely and correctly! Also, if your dishwasher suddenly has no power - look there first. When in doubt, call an electrician or licensed contractor to handle the power hookup. We want to see you when they break down, but hopefully not for simple things like this. Happy Holidays

It’s a frustrating time to be a consumer. We see it on a daily basis, and we’re frustrated with you. Products in our industry are changing so often, and manufacturer’s marketing is simply not doing a good job at setting proper expectations. Companies are seeming to rely on brand equity more often instead of product quality. Performance and quality is not always aligned with the price tag. Do your homework! Case in point:

Washing machine leaving your clothes wet at the end of the cycle? For our many customers on well water - take the hose off and check the filter on the COLD water side. Most washing machines use only cold water for the rinse before spin. Restricted water flow = cycle timeout, and no spin at all. #diy #lifehacks #laundry #homeowners @ifixit

If you have a Bosch Dishwasher that is waiting for recall service with us: We are still waiting on the parts to come in from Bosch. We received an e-mail from them over the weekend that they are doing the best they can to source all of these parts and get them out to their Service Centers. Thank you for your patience!

Helpful tip for our customers in The PA Wilds: Don't spend your money on service for this issue. This is very common for the water supplies in our region, and not just brand specific!

This "HE" Washer thing isn't new anymore, Folks. But these companies overall have done a terrible job instructing their consumers how to use their products correctly! HERE IS THE DEAL: If your washer has a "bad smell" - you are either 1. Using the wrong soap - or 2. Using too much of the right soap(most likely reason!). Those are the two options - THAT'S IT! When I say you're using too much - in some cases, the "fill line" can be 5-10 TIMES TOO MUCH. The response I get almost... every time is: "But I go by the lines on the soap cup, and the directions on the soap bottle." The lines on the soap dispensers are based around a calculated average water hardness. Everyone's water is different! You will need to experiment, and possibly do some Googling to figure out how much is the right amount for you, based on your water hardness. The directions on the soap bottle you can also take with a grain of salt. They only make money when you run out of soap! If you scroll down on our page, you'll also find a great article on how to clean a washer once it has started to smell. Have a great day! See more
