In a year in which the quality of Muhlenberg applications was high, and the number of US applicants for English Teaching Assistant positions in France was sign...ificantly higher than usual, Dylan's application was truly exceptional." Congratulations to Dylan Ashton '18 who has been named a 2019-2020 Fulbright Fellow for the English Teaching Assistant Program in France! Read more: https://bit.ly/2VLWmyB

The Ed Society recently concluded their pen pal program with Ms. Miller's 4th grade class at Cleveland Elementary. Every student in the class was paired with an Ed Society member, and after a year of writing letters to each other, the pen pals were able to meet up! As one of the 4th graders exclaimed, "This was the best day of my life!"

Future Teachers for Safer Schools

Dear Ed Society, An overwhelming response from the community brought more donations of school supplies for both students and teachers than we could have ever imagined. In fact, we were able to send two truckloads of supplies to other surrounding districts impacted by the flood! After talking with the literacy specialist at Lemm elementary, (the school in my district that was completely flooded and will take at least a year to repair), we decided to use the money y'all raised ...to purchase other items that the teachers and students needed to function as a school and get back to the business of educating students. Your overwhelming generosity allowed us to purchase 47 dictionaries, a plethora of picture books for classroom libraries, and 10 professional/curriculum books that the teachers at Lemm use on a daily basis in their planning and teaching. Words alone cannot express my thanks at the amazing support of the Muhlenberg community, and especially that of the Ed society. You have helped in ways that will be remembered for a lifetime. I am proud to be a Muhlenberg Alumni and to have the privilege of partnering with amazing future teachers who obviously understand that compassion is a key component to student success. If I can give back to the Ed Society in some small way by serving as a mentor, or professional networking connection, please do not hesitate to contact me, I would be more than pleased to share my knowledge and experience in any way I can! Thank you again for brightening the day and school year of so many students who have lost both their school and their homes! ~Krystle Marcis

The Education Society asked all the teachers at Union Terrace Elementary School for one book that they want to add to their classroom library. We are happy to be sending the books out to them today with a tiger (school mascot) themed bookmark.
