Control... Power...Self-discipline... All are things that are needed for protection. Self defense happens from all angles. Is your power the same moving backwards as it is moving forward?

Breaking class last night in Douglassville. Our white belts learned the proper way to hold a board for another person to break and then practiced on rebreakable boards. Once they were ready, our white belts broke their first boards! **More videos on the comments**

You want effective & dynamic kicks? S F R.....The Three Keys to Success S Strength: Develop and strengthen ALL the muscles groups of the legs including hams..., inner/outer thigh, hip flexors, gluts, and CORE! You strengthen your legs for running, sports, skiing, etc. Do it for your kicks. F Flexibility: Regular and consistent stretching using proper body mechanics is a must. Stretching is one aspect of training that you cant "push" too aggressively in order to advance at a faster rate. Consistency and moderation will produce results with less risk of injury. R Repetition: One of the worst things you can for your hips and knees is to kick hard to often. In addition, I advise NOT to use ankle weights while kicking in that the added weight around your ankle will put abnormal stress on the knee, hip and ankle joints and tend to hyper- extend them. Perform your single kicks and combinations (both with and without targets) at moderate intensity focusing on hip and foot rotation, kick extension and retraction and accuracy. Perform more kicks at a moderate intensity to create and reinforce that muscle memory. Yes, there are times when you need to unload on the targets !!
