Let’s talk about spontaneous nutrition for a moment... . Hey wait, is that even a thing? .... . Sometimes, when we think about how our day unfolds, we want to control what we put in our bodies. . But often, that doesn’t quite serve us if we are trying to eat intuitively and with passion. . Sometimes, the choice may end up being beet chips. . I challenge you to channel your inner beet chip voice, and choose something spontaneous, different, and that gives you joy. . As for @rhythmsuperfoods beet chips IRL, they’re interestingly addictive . What’s an impulse find you’ve enjoyed??? . #ie #intuitiveeating #spontaneousadventures #findyourfoodfreedom #foodfreedom #interestingfinds #beets #tastychoices #newsnacks #dietitiansofinstagram #sarahricenutrition See more

This is hard. This will continue to be hard. And for those of you struggling right now, know that I see you, and feel your pain and grief . . I had a client today for whom this Pandemic has heightened her anxiety around eating and control of what she can make for her family, and the amount of fresh foods she has access to. We delved into some ways eating intuitively can be a constant that informs daily choices, no matter what remains in the house or the week or two-long str...etches between grocery runs . . Here I present Getting thru freezer/pantry meal #84, shrimp with lentils, with some leftover fresh broccoli thrown in. In posting this photo, I acknowledge my privilege in having access to shrimp, vegetables, and a working kitchen, where many do not . Wishing for you some hope today, and maybe a bit of good news, no matter how small. . #pandemic #pantrygoals #dietitiansofinstagram #copingskills #messageofhope #intuitiveeating #lentils #stayhome #staysafe #staystrong #stayhealthy #goodhomecooking #sarahricenutrition See more

Its okay. ~ It’s okay to not want to exercise. You have permission to feel sad. To sit in your sadness and stare out the window. It’s okay to grieve the loss of your freedom. The loss of human touch. The way life was. It’s okay if you don’t want to eat healthy, whatever that means to you. ... Despite what you may hear, sometimes exercise isn’t going to fix something a bad feeling. And that’s okay. Don’t let the various challenges and diet culture bs going on right now make you feel like you need to be doing more, getting more done in your downtime. You are strong. You are surviving. And that is enough. . . #dietculturedropout #haes #intuitiveeating #rdsofinstagram #covid_19 #selflove #selfcare #downtime #pandemic2020 #healingjourney #takingcareofme

So grateful to be a part of the second annual WIND (Weight Inclusive Nutrition and Dietetics) Workshop this weekend in NYC. With dietitian Heather Caplan @heatherdcrd at the helm, we dove deep into the harms of Healthism, the acknowledgement of our own privileges and lived experiences, and found ways to support our clients through validation of their lived experiences. ~ ~ As weight-inclusive providers we actively practice providing safe environments for ALL patients and wor...k at dismantling systemic oppression and increasing access to quality care. ~ ~ This workshop has once again put the WIND back in my dietetic sails. We are your weight-inclusive RDs, and we are truly Here For Every Body.~ ~ I’ve tagged a few other weight-inclusive folx, if you’d like to give them a follow. #wind2020 #windworkshop2020 #intuitiveeating #haes #weightinclusive #riotsnotdiets #intuitiveeatingofficial #wellnessnotweight #judgementfreezone #rd2be #allbodiesaregoodbodies #sarahricenutrition #dietculturedropout #takedowndietculture #weightinclusivecare #healthpriorities

We are Human Beans. We come in all shapes and sizes. And that’s pretty Cool, Beans. ~ I was thinking about these diverse beans and pulses as a metaphor for us humankind as I was making 15 bean soup recently. And how we’re all in this pot together, respecting what each brings to the table in terms of color, flavor, and personality traits. ~ All beans are good beans. And all bodies are good bodies. And how when we work together and accept each other we can make something amaz...ing and wonderful happen. Dietitians. Friends. Confidantes. It all started in 1995 in a little hospital in Boston known as Beth Israel Deaconess. And so, after the dietetic internship that brought us together, friends we have remained through so many twists and turns. I WISH every person who has struggled with a lifestyle change could see this post, via @alissarumseyrd Posted @withrepost @alissarumseyrd If your eating habits are coming at the expense of relationships with your friends and family, your social life, or your stress levels, then you can eat all the whole, unprocessed, fruits/veggies/etc in the world and not be healthy. Back in college you would have looked at my diet and thought "She is so healthy" when in reality I was ...far from it. Yes, I was eating lots of nutritious foods, but I was also obsessing about what I ate and how my body looked; I was exercising 2+ hours a day 6-7 days a week; I was only sleeping 4-5 hours each night My food restrictions and obsession with the gym would keep me from going out with friends. I came down with a bad cold but didn't let myself rest, so I ended up sick for over 3 months and developed asthma. I was eating lots of nutritious foods, but I was not healthy. Health is about way more than what we eat, how much we weigh, or what our bodies look like. If your health behaviors are causing your body stress, then they are not healthy or good for you I thought of this yesterday when re-listening to my interview on the @foodheaven podcast - Wendy asked me if step counters/fitness trackers were compatible with intuitive eating. My answer - it depends, and can be different for everyone. So you have to think about - with any of these health behaviors - are they causing your body more stress? Are you feeling anxious, guilty, or ashamed because you're not getting enough steps or [insert any other health behavior here]? If yes, then it's most likely NOT good for your health. Because remember, our health is more than just physical health. It's also about emotional health, psychological health, spiritual health, financial health - it's the whole picture. This is why it's so important to cultivate a healthy relationship with food and your body and to take care of yourself in ALL aspects of health, including sleep, stress and coping skills, intuitive eating and healthy movement. Smoked Salmon Sandwich in the Summer . Say that three times fast! . Intuitive Eating can be the last thing from pretty. Cleaning out the fridge also lends itself well to eating intuitively. A little bit of this, schmear of that, and bam, you’re on your way to something satisfying ... . Here I found some unopened smoked salmon that I had bought initially for bagels and never used, and some baby spinach that was going in a stir fry and never quite made it. . It’s fun to seize the moment and combine what you already may have on hand. By asking yourself what you’re really craving in this moment, you’re tuning in to that inner voice that is so critical in nailing down the satisfaction factor. . What’s the craziest sandwich you’ve come up with on the fly? Would love to hear how it turned out! . #rdeats #summersandwich #intuitiveeatingofficial #haes See more

The best part of intuitive eating is you can do it anytime, anywhere. One of the most special times is on vacation - getting to sample any and all cuisines of a particular region or country. .
