https://www.theopportunityfund.org/2020/12/08/awards-2020c2/ We are pleased to share that we are among the social and economic justice organizations funded by Opportunity Fund! It's an honor to be in such good company, and a joy to see all of the good work happening in Pittsburgh. We received funds to support our Community-Based Perinatal Support Program, which improves birth and postpartum outcomes in zip codes with the highest rates of perinatal mortality and morbidity by providing culturally congruent mentorship and doula care. The program trains and hires former participants to support parents in their communities. MAYA breaks the cycle of generational trauma, promotes strong and healthy families, and enriches communities by providing perinatal support, mentorship, and mental health therapy.
